One Piece - Halfway Broken 102-103
Added 2026-02-01 13:44:14 +0000 UTCWell, since this is already done and its the weekend, I don't see any reason not to put it up this morning, so it can help people enjoy nice lazy day ;-). Or a frantic and hectic one, if that's what your Sunday looks like!
I'm quite pleased with this release. I must have been in a bit of a creative slump when I wrote the arrival to Weatheria, and the post where I complained about how little was known. While that is frustrating, I normally am pretty good (I like to think) at extrapolating from what little we have. Thankfully, when I sat back down to write chapter 102, I had much greater success than my previous bit of creative block on what to do with the island, allowing me to spend a bit more time on it. As I'd originally planned. Bonus points that it let me highlight upgrade routes for several crew members, including Brook and Perona, a pair that won't be served as well in most of the canon locations.
In addition to that, as you might have guessed from the Yamato pics, the same chapter (which makes up the bulk of the 7,400 word release) contains the first solo Lemon with Yamato, for those who've been looking forward to their relationship...moving forward, shall we say? Added the smaller chapter 103 are a few perspectives from elsewhere, including Garp's...and a small cameo from Franky and the Franky Family ;-).
Honestly, I think it's a nice solid mix this time.
As usual, the new chapters are attached here in various formats, and the new Master Files, containing the entire story, will be up in the Pinned Post shortly. I'll also be doing some Author's Notes for the chapters after I get that done. You'll be able to find them in the comments, also as usual, though give it a bit so I can actually write them :-p. 2026-03-03 06:10:31 +0000 UTCYep. That's why I choose to depict the Marineford Battle as much more serious/bloody than the overall impression canon gave (at least in the anime). The shit that Whitebeard pulled SHOULD have had devastating effects on the Marine numbers. But One Piece isn't big on consequences actually sticking around. As far as Luffy needing to be more than Halfway Broken, though...keep in mind that Whitebeard was referred to as The Strongest Man in the World for a REASON. He was head and shoulders above even the other Emperors. Garp, Sengoku, Shiki and Rayleigh might be the only others who were on the same level. The top of the top of the previous generation, Rodger's generation.

If thats the scale of things later in the series, then I think Luffy's gonna need to figure a way to become more than just a halfway broken character by the time he starts facing those types of fights. Jeez. Didn't realize One Piece was capable of Dragonball levels of shenanigans like that.

This time, at least, he's mostly only working for the Marines. Which Iceberg was presumably doing all along, since pirates and the rare merchant ship wouldn't be even close to enough to keep the massive Water 7 shipyards busy.

2026-02-02 20:31:41 +0000 UTCThe lemons are very much a case that I'm using the timeskip period to take care of the pairing buildup, and Yamato was the focus for the first part of that. There will most likely be a drop off, where any lemons are short, for a bit now that we've had both a group lemon and her individual first time. Vivi's still only 17 and I'm unwilling to touch lemons with underaged characters, so hers won't pop up until they get at least halfway through the training trip...probably more like 75% of the way through. There will probably be one or two more with different sets of girls, but I normally keep lemons under 1,500 words. The only exception is typically if it's a 'first time' or if you're counting the date included with it. Even the previous bath lemon only ran to about 1,900, despite the number of people involved. Whereas Yamato's first time here was admittedly about 2,400.

2026-02-01 17:02:30 +0000 UTCThanks for the update! The weather containment facility is a very nice touch. I enjoyed seeing visible progress being made in their training. Also looking forward to the summit! Rayleigh, Jimbe, Hancock and Jozu will hopefully be impressed by the Strawhat crew's strength. Concerning the lemon with Yamato for me personally, although it was nice enough, I am not a huge fan of lemons taking up half of the chapter length in most of the recent updates. I understand that it is necessary to have each of the harem's first times described so that the romance can move forward, but it does leave me a bit frustrated with the pace of the updates as we get so see fewer other developments alongside it. Will that stay the norm once their relationship is fully established? Or will their relationship take a bit more of a backseat? I tend to read fics from other fandoms when I am in the mood for smut and generally prefer a focus on adventure when reading One Piece fanfics. With that being said, I get that this might be an unpopular opinion and that most of your readers love what you are doing. If that is the case, please carry on! I do genuinely enjoy your writing and am looking forward to the development of your story in whatever way you prefer to write it. Thanks again for the update!

2026-02-01 14:18:15 +0000 UTCChapter 102 A/N 1: Honestly, I think a weather containment facility that they just REPURPOSED as a prison to hold Nami makes a lot more sense than them having a prison capable of holding like half a dozen people visibly, when they have a population of like a dozen total... A/N 2: The powers Brook develops post time skip are/were one of the inspirations for using 'spiritual energy' as the background energy of One Piece that everything is tapping into, just each manifestation in a different way. Powers like his, Perona's, and the Voodoo guy (Hawkins?) all form a coherent picture of sorts, if you work them back to first principles as it were. Then working back FORWARD, most of the other things Haki, Devil Fruit, and so on can do all kinda fit with legends and myths of what ki/chi/qi/spiritual energy/lifeforce/whateverthefuckyouwantocallit can do. I'm trying NOT do sound like a cultivator fic where Spiritual Energy comes up every third paragraph, but with characters like Perona and Brook it's a natural extension. Likewise, the bullshit Zoro bulls with his Nine Sword Style comes off very much more like a 'swordman's spirit' sort of trick rather than Haki. Add in Luffy, Kaya, and Kuina and it gets a little tough not to mention it more often than I'd really like... A/N 3: So, sexy times with Yamato! I had her lean submissive because of her choices and the culture she's adopting a somewhat mangled version of. Essentially, she leans that way because she views it as the 'ideal' for her situation. We all know she's capable of some serious self-mental-warping in her pursuit of her obsessions :-p. In this version, that obsession has merely been made milder and more reasonable by having her focus on being 'a person who fits Oden's ideals' rather than trying to be Oden himself. A bit of a healthier mindset...
