Stripper With a System Companion Poll
Added 2025-11-15 07:05:21 +0000 UTCCracks Knuckles
Alright! Took me a couple of days longer to get this put together than I'd expected, but put together it is! For those who haven't been paying attention, I've mentioned a couple of times that one feature of Stripper With a System is a bit more interactivity with you, my patrons. Specifically, whenever Rylia is ready to purchase a major new companion, I'm intending to put it up to a vote who she summons. Now, for her very first companion, there are all sorts of options! Too many, really! I had to winnow the field down to a reasonable number, which took a bit of time and thought. Here are the options I've come up with:
---------------
1) Sage (Marvel) - The Administrator! Rylia is up to her tits in projects that she needs to run and manage! Teresia Karisik, better known as Sage, is a mutant whose brain functions operate similar to a computer. Something which grants her perfect memory and incredible analysis ability. She also has considerable skill as a spy, and solid telepathic abilities. An extremely skilled hacker with some engineering skills (though she's not an innovator, instead working to improve existing designs), she would be a solid choice in both the short and long term.
Special Note: Sage's personality is such that she will not, under any circumstances, be paired with Rylia in a relationship. She's never been paired long-term with anyone in Marvel (that I know of), for a good reason. She pretty much doesn't do the whole relationship thing at all. So if you're wanting that for Rylia's first summons, she's not the right pick.
2) Kara Zor-El (DC Comics - Depowered) - Inventor Extraordinaire! A version of Kara Zor-El who had an unfortunate encounter with Gold Kryptonite during her escape from Krypton. To be honest, this never really bothered her, as she'd never lived under a Yellow Sun. In fact, the one time she met Prime Superman, she considered him a horrible brute and insult to the House of El anyway. After all, their family was Science Caste! Not military, to go around punching everything like some sort of thug! Ugh. No, instead, Kara has a full education from the Krypton Science Academy and a will to use it to invent things that actually improve the world, not punch some random villain of the week! A generalist inventor with an extremely wide field of study and genius level intellect, Kara would be a major asset to helping Rylia adapt and develop technologies into the Mass Effect universe.
Special Note: This Kara is in her twenties, so yes Rylia will totally try getting in her panties. How well that works out will remain to be seen ;-).
3) Lara Croft - Archeologist Adventuerous! The Reapers are out there, and sooner or later Rylia is going to need to prove it! Liara's currently a bit too young to get the job done, even if Rylia threw resources and information her way. So...why not recruit the famous Lara Croft, Archeologist and Tomb Raider, with a side of badass adventurer, to go looking for proof in all those dusty, dirty places that Rylia doesn't want to go herself? This sounds like a great plan!
Special Note: Yes, also a potential relationship option, but a fairly slow burn and casual one, as her role would take her away from Rylia frequently.
4) Momo Yaoyorozu (MHA) - Business Expert: A version of Momo who, after the chaos of a few years as a Pro Hero, retired to take over the Yaoyorozu Group business holdings. A genuine expert at running a massive international corporation, including dealing with politics where such big business brushes up against such, she would be invaluable to Rylia several times over. To help run her growing business empire, helping navigate politics, using her Quirk to provide various forms of rare Unobtanium from different settings, and lending her combat skills to close-in protection for Rylia.
Special Note: Intrigued, if embarrassed, by the initial products Rylia is making her empire based off of. Easily suckered into helping 'test' them...
5) Crystal Pelham (Worm/Parahumans) - PR Expert: An AU version of Crystal Pelham who actually managed to finish a degree in Communications before everything on her Earth Bet went to hell. An expert in handling Public Relations of all sorts, up to an including with mercenaries, paramilitary groups, and politicians. Also an ideal close-in bodyguard due to copious amounts of combat experience and retaining her ability to create shields and fly.
Special Note: A girl with exotic tastes and is very interested in the alien species out there, including Asari. On a personal level ;-).
---------------
Each character is picked to fill a certain primary niche, as you can see. They also, notably, aren't all that powerful (Sage and Crystal are probably the most so). Rylia hasn't built up a ton of Karma Points to spend, yet. So she's limited in who she can summon! Also, I don't want her to summon people who outright break the setting :-p. So that's in! Get your votes in, folks!
Comments
Eh......I'm normally one to argue that Momo's Quirk is stupidly broken. But in this case, compared to the setting? It's really not. She can't make things on enough of a scale to disrupt a galactic economy, not even close, and WMDs are commonplace in Mass Effect since every civilian ship Ezeo core could become a nuke with a little rewiring...

2025-11-15 23:41:23 +0000 UTCEh. Normally that can be a problem, sort of. But only until they diverge drastically enough to become their own character. Automata Momo has already done that. Much the same way I've been writing Automata 2B and Very Confused Pokemon Adventure 2B at the same time. Since Automata 2B is dramatically different from canon, while Pokemon Adventure is fairly close to her canon personality still, it makes it relatively easy.

2025-11-15 23:38:58 +0000 UTCI have a feeling you're inviting trouble on yourself trying to write two different versions of Momo at the same time. If MHA goes too long without an update you're going to have a bad time. That said, if you think you can pull it off, then go for it. I'm just bringing up a concern :)

2025-11-15 19:53:22 +0000 UTCMomo is the most dangerous of them all now that Kara is depowered, so she has my vote

2025-11-15 17:58:56 +0000 UTCOh no! You're trying to bully poor Rylia ;-)! I'm shocked, shocked I say! Kara and the Golden Kryptonite thing. I'd keep this one on the simplistic side, avoiding complications by having it simply negate her solar absorption completely for both positive and negative effects. She'd still retain the rest of the enhanced general genetic engineering package Kryptonians have, such as a somewhat extended lifespan and heightened intelligence. A fully empowered Kryptonian, even with an alternate power set from a different type of star, is a little too broken to want to introduce to a story mostly focused on indirect countering of the threat, instead of punching the Reapers in the face. All of the modern versions of Lara Croft, she has a PhD in Archaeology and Comparative Mythology from Oxford. So she's arguably on a similar level to Indiana Jones in that respect. She's also generally depicted as EXTREMELY intelligent, knowing something like 15 languages (many ancient, but several modern as well), among other things. Though, admittedly, I did pick her out of the possibilities as I knew she'd have to compete against other characters for the Horny People voters votes :-p.

2025-11-15 16:38:47 +0000 UTCHey, if all picks weren't good, it wouldn't be a good poll ;-). Solid logic on most of them, though I think on Crystal you're probably a bit off. A huge chunk of EVERYTHING on Earth Bet is complex PR that makes the real world's look tame, due to the fact that world swirled the drained for 20+ years with everyone trying desperately to hide that fact. As for her intelligence, we never really see it. She's not really a 'main character' in the series. At least you're honest with having separate degenerate rankings :-p. I have a suspicion Momo might be doing as well as she is because of that bit...

2025-11-15 16:27:14 +0000 UTC*waggles hand in a so-so motion* Kara comes with more tech understanding, but technically Rylia can buy that off the Marketplace. Kara's real value is in a mind that can help apply all of that tech to a lower tech base. Momo, I specifically mentioned this being a somewhat older version of her that's played in the big leagues of business to ditch that naivety issue. In MHA, she's 15-16 and very sheltered. Here, she'd been in her early to mid twenties with several years of swimming with the sharks of the business world.

2025-11-15 16:20:29 +0000 UTCSolid logic :-). Though, pretty much any of them can be argued solidly or they wouldn't be in the list ;-). Take Lara, for example. Yes, theoretically finding the Reapers can be done 'later.' But a huge chunk of Shepard's issue in the games was not being able to PROVE the Reapers were a threat. Which also means the Rylia doesn't have a truly solid way of doing so just from her memories. Who knows how long it would take even an expert to get convincing proof. So it could be just as easily argued that getting an early start on that could be critical.

2025-11-15 16:16:02 +0000 UTCTechnically, Rylia can just purchase tech knowledge from the Market, but Kara absolutely gives a bit boost in the form of someone who understands the tech and has some experience adapting it for a lower tech base.

2025-11-15 16:12:42 +0000 UTCI have a suspicion Momo is getting a lot of votes because of the content of the special note about here :-p. The power of perversion has proven potent previously on this patreon ;-). I'm always a little shaky on the idea of using Worm characters, as I've never actually read Worm. I've read quite a lot of Worm fanfiction, but not the original source material. It's also why I picked Crystal in this case, as she's not overly well defined in the Source material, so I don't have to worry about screwing up writing her too much.
Novus Peregrine
2025-11-15 16:11:20 +0000 UTC*shrug* She has, though I've used 2B in two different works as well. Like those, this Momo wouldn't be just a rehash of the version I've already done. She'd be a little closer to her canon personality than she is in Automata, where Izumi met her early and derailed her a fair bit. Her Quirk wouldn't be nearly as broken without OFA either. Still broken, just not to the same ridiculous levels.

2025-11-15 16:08:23 +0000 UTCSage is my vote simply pushed ahead because I like the concept of her character the few times I have come across her in fanfics before (and never as a primary or even secondary character, always as a side character working for someone other than MC). Plus Rylia is going to need a non-horny "straight man" presence to help manage her, and I am feeling a bit sadistic in wanting to further torment Rylia with a companion she cannot seduce before she gets her first romantic and/or sexual partner. That said, Momo is probably a good choice for the moment as well (and I can see her ending up getting pissed at Rylia not keeping up with signing all the things necessary for business and that leading to her insisting Rylia get a personal assistant/secretary and thus bringing in Sage as a secondary or one of the secondary choices (I could see the next time Rylia gets companions her having gotten enough to get more than one- or something like a coupon for "Get two Companions you Need for the price of one, but in exchange you don't get to choose what need or who to fill" Question regarding Kara and exposure to golden Kryptonite. That only is described as permanently removing abilities related to absorbing power from a Yellow Sun. What about other suns? Would red solar energy still weaken her? Orange solar energy is supposed to super charge/give even more power than yellow. Similarly there are instances of Blue and white suns giving new abilities/more power as well. Google even mention something about some supergirl comics where a green star made supergirl sick. Not really looking for a Superpowered Kara, more just generally curious on your approach to Kryptonians, golden Kryptonite, and various stellar energies. (Personally, I prefer Tamaraneans for star-empowered individuals any ways, though its more Ultraviolet Light from my understanding for them.) I just can't get myself to really get into Worm/Parahumans so cannot make any comment on Crystal. If a tomb raiding adventurer is going to be any option, and as you rightly pointed out they would be away from Rylia for the most part and thus not the easiest for a relationship, then I would lean more towards someone like Dr. Indiana Jones, or for a more modern take Nathan Drake. The one has experience as an academic/professor and thus could help present the finds/knowledge in a way that may be accepted by the academic community (and if nothing else he could lead to Liaraseeking him out herself, and by extension meeting Rylia, as she works on her own studies). The other has experience as a Professional treasure hunter/has business knowledge and could lead to him being a good choice for a new branch of Rylia's slowly expanding business empire (there are many historical artifacts and manuscripts and the like that can be found in the ME games while surveying systems/planets, Nathan running a crew/company that tracks them down for Rylia could gain her reputation and standing.) Nothing says Lara Croft couldn't fulfill any of those types of roles as well, I just never got into the games nor paid much attention to the live action movie(s?) about her that I vaguely remember coming across while channel surfing on TV at some point. I have played some of the Uncharted Games, and it just recently had a movie made, and as for Indy, he is almost *the* "Archaeologist Adventurer" template.

2025-11-15 14:41:32 +0000 UTCYou friend are evil ....... Where is my all the above button..... How could you be so cruel to make us choose just one of them....... On a more constructive note kara, sage and momo are the more immediately useful.... Let me break my personal ranking of them down ..... Place 1 is definitely Kara she is a scientist of house el and kryptonian tech is bullshit the early she is here the more tech she can "invent" and adapt and R&D needs time so she should be got as early as possible.... 2nd we have Sage on the other hand which would be the most immediately useful as with her int and experience she could likely immediately start streamlining administration and such I would also say she would like be a wizard in siphoning funds for off the books projects while making it look legit.... 3rd place would be momoas while she was the head of a global conglomerate she would need time to get aquentet with a galactic economy as well as the political situation and norms also all the old matrons and matriarchs have a serious experience advantage over her she also likely had a lot of advisors and an established and streamlined administration for her company already.... 4rd would likely be Lara but she would also need more time to acclimate herself to the new tech level as she would need a ship learn about prothean and all such things not the mention the reapers.... 5th would be Crystal as the PR situation is even more difficult to understand and she is as far as I remember much less intelligent and adaptive than the other picks also she is from earth beth where global economy and so pr is a lot less complex and cutthroat than even our current real live iteration of it.... All of this meaning that Kara or sage would be the most sensible and useful choices while the other would need a year or two or even more before they could actually get started with helping..... On the degenerate ranking it would be 1 Kara 2 Momo 3 Crystal 4 Lara 5 Sage But that is less relevant for me for this story at least... So everyone please š„ŗ pick Kara or sage please š„ŗ

2025-11-15 13:26:26 +0000 UTCKara comes with tech more advanced and not following the same line of thought as the Reapers, instant win there for me, plus she's supernaturally smart. Momo is a nice second but she's not an inventor or tech minded, sure she can create things she knows of (and then she needs to know how to make them and material composition too) but things need to exist for that to be of use, she's also a goody-goody who would be against anything that could be deemed as 'villainy' plus enough money and you can just buy stuff anyway. She's also shown to be really naive in MHA so not sure how great she would even be in charge of a business with constant spies and saboteurs about either.

2025-11-15 10:58:24 +0000 UTCMy thought process here is more one of elimination than picking the best of the bunch. First out is Lara. While proving the reapers will be important later, now is the time to build a foundation. Delays in getting started can likely be compensated for with greater resources being available. Next off the list is Kara. While science is important her main bottleneck is production and influence, not science. That's for later. Third is Crystal. PR is temporarily handled due to our MC's minor celebrity status. Still a hole to be patched, but not an urgent one. Bodyguard is definitely needed, but can largely be filled with in universe sources. Sage I feel is slightly less useful for her current needs, but would still be a solid choice. When your main plan is build a company, get an expert in the subject. Plus having access to various unubtanium, even in the relatively small quantities she can produce, would help keep Rylia safe as well as help in developing versions that don't rely on materials that don't exist in the mass effect universe.

2025-11-15 07:31:26 +0000 UTCKara (gives better tech for when Reapers arrive) and Momo (better business means more money to throw at everything) are the two best options right now, but I think Kara is better long term as our first companion
idk
2025-11-15 07:20:29 +0000 UTCIām voting for Momo, because I think her powers will be great, and her embarrassment will be even greater. However, I hope to see more Worm characters in the future, even though Iām not voting for crystal this time.

2025-11-15 07:12:19 +0000 UTC... Damn it. Momo is definitely the most useful out of this bunch, but I feel like she's already been done in the MHA story...

2025-11-15 07:10:32 +0000 UTCI'm going to have to put my vote for Kara. Especially since she's the powered she doesn't ruin the setting by punching everything to death. That has its time and place š but she also provides her extreme intellect and know-how along with a longer than human lifespan I believe kryptonians live to be somewhere around 500 plus years? Even discounting any life extension improvements that they could come up with.
