Hi!
Today I'm posting a lite version of the Final Exam game on my Patreon.
The thing is, that yesterday I, and my publisher, officially terminated the contract regarding the publication of my Final Exam game on various resources.
The light version of Final Exam, released on DLSite for Japanese audiences, was a complete failure. Despite the fact that this version lacks most of the content originally intended, the publisher assured me that the game would have hundreds, perhaps thousands of sales in the first week of publication. The publisher said he had experience promoting much worse games.
It's now been 3 weeks since the game was released to Japanese audiences. No hundreds of sales for the game, unfortunately.
In fact, I didn't hold out much hope for the success of the lite version of the Final Exam game. It's very far from the game I had originally envisioned. I planned to realize all my ideas in the Steam version of the game.
The Steam version of the game was going to contain much more content than the light version. The plan was to have more game levels ending with boss battles. I also wanted to add more visuals, as well as a deeper story.
I had been working on the Steam version of the game since the light version was published. But yesterday my publisher contacted me and informed me that our contract was terminated, and the publication of the game on Steam is canceled. The publisher reasoned that Steam had changed its policy regarding 18+ games. Such games, he said, are now very difficult to sell on Steam.
Whether it's true or not, I can't find out. In any case, I won't be able to publish a game on Steam on my own. My dreams and hopes have been dashed to dust.
It took me about a year to create a light version of Final Exam. And it contains only a fraction of the content intended for the full version.
Now I am in a very depressed mood about what happened. I put a lot of effort and time into the development, and I hoped that the result would be much better. What to do next, I honestly don't know. In any case, I will continue my activity, and I will continue making games. But at the moment I need a little rest from game development. But that doesn't mean that I will disappear completely. I will continue creating images.
For now, I'm posting a lite version of the Final Exam game on Patreon.
The link to download the game can be found in the pinned post.
Minimum system requirements:
OS: Windows 10
Processor: Dual Core 2.4 Ghz
RAM: 4 GB RAM
Video card: Hardware Accelerated Graphics with dedicated memory
Disk space: 350 MB
DirectX: version 10
There may be issues with some discrete graphics cards on some laptops. If the game does not launch on your laptop, there are several ways to resolve the issue.
1. Please change the settings in the graphics card control panel so that the game runs in energy-saving mode.
2. If step 1 did not help, please disable the discrete graphics card through the Windows Device Manager and use the integrated graphics adapter.
Linux and MacOS versions were not tested (I have no hardware and software).
Please don't judge harshly. This is my very first completed game. And a first game, as I think, can only be good on rare occasions... And the game was created under very difficult conditions.
I'm sorry, I don't know what else to write, although I want to say a lot of things. In particular, I want to tell my thoughts about future game development. However, my head is not working well right now. Right now, due to life circumstances, I have to work offline without weekends, and I'm writing this post during my break.
Therefore, I probably won't write anything else this time. I'll be sure to share my thoughts in my future posts.
Many thanks to everyone who supports me.

I'm so sorry to hear about that. If it helps at all it is fairly rare that a first attempt goes as well as one hopes, but, that's how we can learn and improve. Still I think you could still release it on Steam, you'd just have to pay the 100$ fee for such, so far as I'm aware. So long as you can keep working on it, there's still ways to achieve what you hope, don't give up!
