Eggcellent Update and my thoughts about the developing cycle

So, as you might have noticed I haven’t updated the game for quite a while. When I created dryadquest.com/beta I was thinking about sharing new content as I make it for a new dungeon but this approach turned out to be very flawed. Unlike many text-based games which consist of mostly independent scenes, every dungeon in my game has its own ecosystem with events and interactions intertwined among themselves(it might not be so prominent in the prologue but in the second dungeon it’s more the case, and even more so in the third one I’m working alongside on. Basically the more experienced I’ll have become, the more complicated the overall content is going to be). Anyway, what I’m trying to say is that there’s no point in posting unfinished content as it’s an unsatisfying experience for you and lots of wasted time for me scripting scenes that change on a regular basis. The problem is it really takes lots of time to create a dungeon(level design + events + battle encounters + sex scenes + items + scripting + debugging) and I’m just one dude doing all of this by myself. I’m writing this part of the post not because I want to complain(well, maybe a little bit as when I started the game I couldn’t even imagine how much juggling I’ll end up doing) but because I want to make it clear that creating a new area eats up lots of time. The point is when there’s no update or news for more than a month it’s not because I died(I’m working on the game every day and regularly checking any feedback), it’s because the content is not ready to be published, even as a demo version.
In conclusion, I want to say thanks to everyone for your support and for believing in me despite all this waiting. Making my own RPG was a dream of mine since I was a child(well, not that lewd at the time but time corrupt people, you know. Or was it the internet?). Anyhow, it is thanks to you that I am able to make my dream come true. This is going to be a really huge project and when I say I might still work on it in 10+ years, it’s not an exaggeration.
Now I’m finishing my rambling and present to your the patch notes(to test the new content you’ll have to start a new game):
- New navigation UI
- New mechanic: Leakage. You can now gather semen beyond capacity but it will leak out whenever you try moving to another room
- New mechanic: Eggs. Some NPC can now lay eggs inside you(currently it’s only Earthworm-girl) that you can incubate and give birth to(that includes a special smut scene). After each sex or fight encounter the eggs inside you will absorb some of the semen and grow in size until they are ready to hatch.
- New mechanic: Party. You can now have allies assist you during fights. The stronger an ally, the more leadership points it takes to have them by your side. Currently the only allies you can have are grubs hatched from eggs. But I’m planning to add more in the future.
- New mechanic: Shrines. I added a new location with a shrine where you can sacrifice some of the semen to gain a blessing(this one enhances you sex skills but I’m planning to add various others in the future e.g. hitting a random enemy with a lighting bolt at the start of the fight).
- New status effect: Gaping. After extreme stretching(currently during the egg birth scene) you might have a gaping status effect that gradually wears off.

- Bug fixes
