They got me, that's it, I cried for the death of one character, I was truly desperate, being like "tell me he didn't die for nothing, pleaaaaase". Because I was sad for that character's death but also because during the entire episode, I managed to convince myself that Toranaga had a hidden plan and that seppuku moment made me doubt, so I had the impression to be in denial. And your Queen of Denial didn't deal with all of that well.

Even if I was so sure that Toranaga was playing here at being sick, looking weak, isolating himself. I even understood that his son's death was in fact really useful for him, suspecting Toranaga to have ordered and/or pushed his son to assassinate his uncle. His son's death bought him time, his old friend's death bought him credibility. For me, both of them sacrificed himself for Toranaga and, ok he didn't ask them directly, but he pushed them to do it, they wanted to prove their loyalty to him through that. And that's where I think Lady Ochiba is right about him.
