This episode should have been already decided : Nobara and Fushiguro against the bridge cursed spirit and Yuji facing the one created by Mahito. But the writers had a good idea by bringing a new one who kidnapped Nobara. It forced Fushiguro to face that cursed spirit alone, and because it's the one related to personal things for him, it was a good idea.
Thanks to that situation, we finally had real memories with him ! The explanation about the fights he had with people at school, the fact that he was already focused on defending people around him and that discussion with his sister. And that lesson of life that Satoru gave him, which is in fact close to what Sukuna told him. His teacher and his enemy told him the same thing : he doesn't even know what he can do, his full potential. After winning against this cursed spirit, Fushiguro is so hurt… I'm afraid of him eating Sukuna's finger, to defend himself or someone else…
