Thread: [OFFICIAL] PRT Statement on Brockton Bay Missile Incident + Hookwolf Photo Leak [SERIOUS]
In the interest of clarity, all speculation and unsubstantiated claims should be marked as such. Reminder: Do NOT post identifying information of suspected capes or civilians. --Mod

Hey all,
PRT East-Northeast just released an official statement. Their words, not mine:
Confirmed “unauthorised missile launch” traced to Brockton Bay yesterday, ‘origin currently under investigation.’
Group responsible is suspected to be linked to: 1) the public execution of Thomas Calvert (Coil), 2) the Herren Clan massacre, 3) “destabilisation and absorption” of former villain networks, 4) unauthorised missile test in city limits.
PRT classifying the org as S-Class, “national security threat,” and designating them as villains.
Provisional codename for their leader: Hollowpoint (pending full identification).
Pictures circulating on PHO and social media showing the body of Hookwolf with a message spray-painted on the ground: “JUSTICE DELIVERED—A GIFT FROM BROCKTON BAY’S PEACEKEEPERS.”
PRT basically said “don’t trust vigilantes; these are criminals, do not support them.”
But, like, the city’s… safer? Are the “Peacekeepers” heroes, villains, or something else? I’m torn. And what’s with that hawk symbol?
Discuss.

They waited until after the pictures hit the net to put this out.
Absolutely shameless. If this is what “villain” means, maybe we need more “villains.”
(also, rip Gallant. E88 deserved it.)

The city’s “safer” but half the capes here are dead or disappeared. That’s sus IMHO.

Oh, come ON. The PRT’s announcement is pure damage control. They’re humiliated because Hollowpoint’s group outed their own consultant (Calvert) as a supervillain, rescued Dinah Alcott, and made the heroes look like chumps. You really think the PRT didn’t know about Calvert? I’m calling BS. They’re slapping the “terrorist” label on these guys to save face. Also, anyone else notice the timing? PRT drops their statement, and bam, Hookwolf’s dead with a “Peacekeepers” calling card. That’s a middle finger to the PRT if I ever saw one. P.S. That hawk symbol? Bet it’s a reference to some old myth or something. Anyone got a lead on that?

Honestly?
Whoever “Hollowpoint” is, they did what the PRT wouldn’t/couldn’t.
Coil gone, Dinah rescued, Hookwolf torched, ABB in hiding, Merchants scattered.
If you’re in Brockton, that’s a win.

@TinFoilHat, please refrain from posting unverified conspiracy theories without evidence. Speculation is fine, but claiming the PRT knowingly harboured a supervillain requires substantiation. Consider this a warning. Further violations may result in a temporary ban.

Heroes. Full stop. The PRT’s been sitting on their hands for YEARS while the ABB and E88 turned the Bay into a warzone. Hollowpoint’s group shows up, and in three weeks, Coil’s gone, the Empire’s done, and Hookwolf’s a barbecue. You see the streets lately? I walked through the Docks last night and didn’t feel like I was going to get jumped. First time in a decade. PRT’s just mad someone’s doing their job better.

@RecoilJoke, I get the hometown pride, but let’s not drink the Kool-Aid. Launching missiles in a city isn’t “heroic.” That’s reckless endangerment on a massive scale. And executing Coil? Yeah, he was scum, but the PRT had him. Killing a guy in custody screams “we don’t trust the system, so we make our own rules.” That’s villain logic. Next thing you know, they’re demanding protection money or blowing up City Hall because “it’s for the greater good.”

I’m with RecoilJoke. The Bay’s been a hellhole for years—ABB, E88, Merchants, you name it. The PRT’s all talk, no action. Hollowpoint’s group comes in, and suddenly villains are dropping like flies. I don’t care if they’re launching missiles or whatever; they’re making my kid’s walk to school safer. That’s what matters. PRT can cry about “terrorism” all they want, but they’re just mad they got shown up.
Also, that “Peacekeepers” name? Badass. Sounds like they’re here to stay.

If the “Peacekeepers” (god, that’s a PR coup) are ex-villains, does that mean the villains are the good guys now?
My brain hurts.

Wild that it took a “villain” to do what all the so-called heroes kept wringing their hands about for months.
Missile was a message. The feds got scared, and now they’re desperate to get out in front of the story.
City’s still standing. I’m with the Peacekeepers.

Counterpoint:
If you think launching a missile in a US city = “peacekeeping,” you need to have your head examined.
What happens when Hollowpoint decides the next “threat” is someone he doesn’t like?
If this is “order,” it’s one step away from dictatorship.

Anyone else think PRT is about to “find” a bunch of evidence that just happens to make the Peacekeepers look worse?
Maybe even frame them for something big?

As someone who's actually IN Brockton Bay right now, let me tell you what the PRT statement sounds like to us locals:
"Oh no, the scary group that eliminated the Empire, saved that kidnapped girl, and executed the child-abusing mastermind is now a terrorist organisation because they have big scary weapons!"
Meanwhile, we can actually walk the streets at night for the first time in YEARS.
Fuck the PRT. Go Peacekeepers.

I want to remind everyone that discussion of classified military assets and terrorist organisations is monitored. The individuals responsible for the unauthorised missile test pose a clear and present danger to civilian populations.
The fact that they eliminated certain villains does not excuse their escalation to weapons of mass destruction.

Everyone’s so sure this is a good thing.
What if Peacekeepers are just clearing the field for something worse?
Or someone worse?
Just because they killed a few monsters doesn’t mean they aren’t monsters themselves.

@Reave lmao "weapons of mass destruction"
How is that a WMD you absolute muppet? Also, strange that we have “villains” cleaning up the city whilst your people let a child-kidnapping crime boss operate for YEARS.
Maybe focus on actual threats instead of the people cleaning up your failures?

As someone who doesn’t live in Brockton Bay, I’m gonna say it: you guys are way too quick to worship these “Peacekeepers.” Yeah, they took out Hookwolf and Coil, but they also executed a guy in PRT custody and fired missiles in a city. That’s not cleaning up; that’s warlord behaviour. What happens when they decide they don’t like the mayor or the PRT’s new director? You really want a group like that deciding who lives and who dies? The PRT’s not perfect, but at least they’re accountable. Hollowpoint’s just a shadow with a gun and a god complex.

@HeyArmsmasterNoticeMe “accountable”? The PRT let Coil operate under their noses for years. They let Hookwolf murder Gallant and didn’t do squat until after he was taken out. Accountable my ass. You don’t live here, so you don’t get it. The Bay’s been a warzone, and the PRT’s been collecting paychecks while we dodge bullets. Hollowpoint’s the only one actually fixing things.

Question for the thread: if they’re taking out villains, why not join the Protectorate? Why go full vigilante-terrorist?
Reply: ConspiracyNut42
Posted on June 03, 2011 09:44:59AM
@UrbanHermit, they’re not joining the Protectorate because the system’s rotten. Think about it: Coil was a PRT consultant. The Empire ran the Bay for years, and the PRT barely touched them. Hollowpoint’s probably seen how the game’s played and decided to burn the board. I’m not saying I trust them, but I get why they’re not signing up for Armsmaster’s book club.

Okay, but real talk: that hawk symbol is cool. Like, straight out of a comic book. I bet Hollowpoint’s got a whole aesthetic going. And yeah, I know, “missiles bad,” but if they’re taking out trash like Hookwolf and Coil, I’m not complaining. Also, I’m just gonna say it: the PRT looks like a bunch of salty losers right now. They call Hollowpoint a terrorist minutes after the Peacekeepers drop Hookwolf’s corpse with a bow on it. You can’t make this up. My neighbour’s kid got caught in the crossfire of an E88-ABB fight last year. He’s still in therapy. If these Peacekeepers are taking out the gangs, I’m sending them a fruit basket. PRT can shove their “national security threat” nonsense.

@BayResidentAnon24 I feel for your neighbour, but you’re missing the bigger picture. These guys aren’t your friendly neighbourhood vigilantes. They’ve got military-grade tech, a body count, and no oversight. You’re cheering because they’re hitting your enemies, but what happens when they turn on someone you like? Or when they decide the Bay’s “stabilised” and start running it like Coil did? Power like that doesn’t stay altruistic.
Reply: DragonFan42

@CapeWatcher99’s got a point. The missile thing is what’s freaking me out. Suborbital tech isn’t something you whip up in a garage. That’s Tinker-level stuff, and if they’ve got someone like Bakuda or a Toybox connection, we’re talking about a group that could level the city if they wanted. The PRT’s not wrong to be worried. I mean, yeah, they took out Hookwolf, but what’s the endgame? They’re not just “cleaning up” for funsies.

Posted on June 03, 2011 09:46:24AM
Okay, hear me out: what if Hollowpoint’s group is a front for something bigger? Like, what if they’re a Guild op gone rogue? Or maybe Cauldron’s behind them? I mean, come on, how does a nobody cape show up out of nowhere with missiles, a hit squad, and the ability to unmask half the Bay’s villains? That’s not a solo act. They’ve got backing. Bet my left kidney it’s tied to the Endbringers somehow.

Summary (as best I can gather, in order):
Coil unmasked and arrested (Peacekeeper op, allegedly).
Dinah Alcott rescued, media leaks evidence of her kidnapping. Allegedly.
Herren Clan wiped out in a “gang war.” Allegedly.
E88 capes unmasked, mass arrests. Allegedly.
Coil executed mid-transfer (video leaked online, public support surprisingly high). Confirmed by PRT.
Missiles launched from Brockton Bay, PRT scrambles. Confirmed by PRT.
Hookwolf and E88 leadership killed, photo released. Confirmed by PRT.
“Peacekeepers” (name stuck after Hookwolf) credited for bringing order to the city.
If I missed anything, feel free to add.

Hookwolf was a monster. He killed a friend of mine. But this isn't the way. This is chaos. Taking the law into your own hands only leads to more violence and death. What happens when these "Peacekeepers" decide someone else is a threat? What if it's a hero who disagrees with them? Or a civilian who gets in their way? They've already shown they're willing to kill. They've shown they have no regard for our laws. That should scare everyone.

Just because they kill worse people doesn’t make them “heroes.”
