Paul's Main Cape Alias
Added 2025-05-03 01:11:07 +0000 UTCGreatness is a transitory experience. It is never consistent. It depends in part upon the myth-making imagination of humankind. The person who experiences greatness must have a feeling for the myth he is in. He must reflect what is projected upon him. And he must have a strong sense of the sardonic. This is what uncouples him from belief in his own pretensions. The sardonic is all that permits him to move within himself. Without this quality, even occasional greatness will destroy a man.

I understand the appeal of Haderach (bad choice, but still). Idk maybe Paul can just at some points internally refer to his predictions as 'the way' or smth if people are that attached.

His chosen name of Muad'dib (remember being the desert mouse) is telling in that respect. He took advantage of perceptions and narratives and would choose a term that would benefit him. But he's actually a bit absent of the...overstated ego many with power gain. He wouldn't choose an overly grand name like Ozmandius unless he thought he could twist the narrative to his advantage. (In fairness the writer could make that work I think). Though I feel like he'd edge away from 'Edgier Names, I'd leave that open to other voters what that might be. Ironically the original Hebrew translation of Kwisatz Haderach, miraculous travel between two distant places in a short time is actually extremely interesting in its own right. Literally the leap of the way. Just my two cents (first cent was earlier post).
