The frieren Tuesdays will definitely be missed but death note goes down in anime history as one of the classics. Even after all these years it holds its ground as one of the best anime. Unfortunately for me I will not be watching along because I got spoiled on the whole show and I don’t like the main character that much so it’s just not for me. You will guys will definitely like it. Also I see the comments about the English dub and I’m always down for you guys watching English dub!!! Death note has one of the best English dubs so don’t worry if you guys do decide to switch to the dub the quality of the voice acting will not disappoint you!

They’re supernatural beings whose job is to guide souls to the afterlife or basically let people know their time’s up. – In traditional Japanese folklore, they’re a relatively modern idea — they started showing up in stories and theater during the Edo period (17th–19th century), partly influenced by Western concepts of the Grim Reaper. – In pop culture they’re everywhere: in Death Note, Bleach, Soul Eater, Kuroshitsuji etc. — usually shown as dark, cool, or creepy characters, sometimes with a scythe. – Unlike the Western Grim Reaper, shinigami aren’t evil or good — they’re neutral. Just bureaucrats of the afterlife, doing their job. 2. It's interesting to re-watch this show now, when I'm being older. I've watched it for the first time in high school and I liked Kira (Light) very much. I had more of a Machiavellian approach to things and struggled with my ideology (just normal teenage-confusion things). - Is it justified to use ruthless means to achieve a greater goal? - Does it even need justification if the results are all that matter and the rest will become history anyway? I'm an INTJ, I'm an ideologist, a perfectionist, I like efficiency etc. and the idea of being able to reach an ideal is always tempting to me (even though, in theory, I understand that perfection does not exist). Now I'm older, more mature and more mindful towards people's individual lifes. The meaning has reached it's pedestal on my current ideological theorising. I've discarded my struggle on macchiavelism. There is no way the means could justify the end goal, no matter how great, if they are to blemish basic morality and humanity. There is no purpose, no meaning in achieving a "better world" that Kira is dreaming of in a way that is not human. Therefore, I no longer side with Kira on this watch-through and it's interesting to watch it with a new perspective, still respecting his intellect and charisma yet now seeing him as a complete villain (before he was something of a dark hero to me, or a villain with a great goal).
