I saw the first couple of episodes as they aired and then had to read the manga, I caught up that same day, it's a story that had me in tears multiple times. It is well worth a watch!! Also, as a note, the first season is currently still airing, so most recently episode 9 aired and next is episode 10. This first season will supposedly be 12 episodes long

And I'm not talking about highly advanced alien species (although it's a possibility) but microorganisms, prokaryotes (such as bacteria), unicellular or multicellular organisms that must exist on other planets with the right life conditions. To quote Carl Sagan: “The universe is a pretty big place. If it’s just us, it seems like an awful waste of space.”
