So, as it's currently what theoretically would be February 31st if this were an extra-special Mega Leap Year, this is probably a good time to start work on the February Patroncast...
Just in case you're new, this submission thread is where you get to ask questions, suggest topics, or generally start getting excited for the approach of Skies of Arcadia...
So ask away, and I'll update this post when the Patroncast is recorded, so as long as there isn't an edit below saying that, everything should be good :)

2024-06-20 19:07:54 +0000 UTCHey Anna, Claire here. Congrats to your girlfriend! My initial experience with ADHD treatment was really great. I did have some issues with side effects (specifically, I was getting lots of tension headaches), so I'm not currently on ADHD meds, but they did work very well at what they were meant to do. I do remember the first day I took my meds (slow release stimulant), it was like a revelation. I just felt immediately more awake and clear-headed, and I could do whatever I wanted to do without faffing about and forgetting what I had started to do. Also I kept remembering to close cupboard doors after I'd opened them, and within the first week, I really saw an impact on my sleep for the better. Jon also said the effect was really obvious. Hope this helps even though we are late!

The guy who has the discord for the rando was great in helping me troubleshoot

Indirectly, as to why it was so little viewed, I'm really not sure - even if people didn't love the game, I would have thought they might want to watch somebody else cover it out of interest but no apparently. Just a weirdly poor performance.

2024-06-17 20:38:57 +0000 UTCI blame the cats for this - hands-up, we've had some shorter things to give us more time to hang out with the cats once they arrived, and in the run-up to their arrival to get far enough ahead to take some time off to be with them. Things should ease back towards the typical length I think is optimal (~40 minutes) over time.

2024-06-17 19:54:26 +0000 UTCThe current situation inside is that there are alot of people giving up on the industry after being let go, whether this leave is indefinite for them I can't say. What I can say is that with all of this talent leaving, it's putting alot of like-minded devs in the same boat, some of whom have made friends on this boat, and are sailing off to start their own island, and using their severance pay as fuel. Can I stop with the boat analogy now? Bare in mind these layoffs are happening all thew way down, it isnt just teams of thousands getting cut by a couple hundred, its also teams of ten losing a solid few people. Some Indie heads are in this boat too, and they know how to start a company and run one. Basically, don't get *too* surprised if there's some sort of Indie renaissance on the way.

I did probably explore more and I got all the achievements.. But I have no desire to return. No real interest in DLC or modding it. I think the game could've been way more interesting if jumping universes resulted in a real different universe, one where the FC won the war and such things, not the exact same place you started at. Or if that is the only option make the quests different by being able to use your knowledge. What happens if you tell the UC where and how to find Kryx's legacy or go straight in accusing Hope of aiding those mercs? I hope the new game plus doesn't return in ES6.. All I do fear there might be use of the randomly created worldspace system, like making custom portals to plains of Oblivion or something. What is something from Starfield you hope they don't bring into other games?

I put this reply on the video page, I put it here as there's more chance you'd see it :) I actually held off watching the series for a couple of months when you reached the same point in the game I'd got to because I didn't want spoilers. In the end I just realised that despite putting £80 down on the game it wasn't drawing me back. I seriously don't know if I'll ever pick it up again. So I caught up with the series - which was nice being able to binge watch them! There are too many 'downgrades' from FO4 / 76 IMO - from really basic ones like how the gun mods can't be swapped between guns which makes zero sense. To the really annoying situation you can find yourself in that you have your house cluttered with stuff you had to drop because you ran out of space to store stuff because you hadn't got enough bloody materials to build storage units but going to gather resources just seems a chore. And the travelling - as you said, it takes away the journey. We never got an journey to Iverstead in Starfield that took you 20 parts to get to because you kept getting distracted! In Starfield, you jump in your ship and you get there, you don't even need fuel, despite there clearly being a fuel consumption mechanic. The base building, which I'm sure Bethesda spent months adding into the game just seems pointless - as you also said many times, why spend time doing that when you can go and buy the stuff easily in shops. *sigh*, I had such high hopes for Starfield, but it just fell so, so flat. It was sad to see the views on the series drop off as much as they did, but it appears that a lot of people felt the same way as I did and dare I say, you did. Thank you for the series, I enjoyed your adventure through it. maybe if they fix some of the issues with it I'll finish off mine, but as it stands... I just don't know. Basically, I don't know if finishing off my adventure would add anything above and beyond what you managed to drag out of the game in his series. It's almost certainly more enjoyable than the game itself. :(

I admire it for not just being fallout in space or elder scrolls in space, and I wish that was a more widely accepted destiny for it. I'll certainly be rewatching the series in binge mode next time I need something to occupy my mind while I work

Jon, I was looking through my steam library and saw Spore. I think that your personality plus a quirky game about the evolution of a species would make an interesting one-off. Claire, it's an older SFF series but I recently stumbled on David Eddings' Blegariad and Malloreon (10 books + two books that are both the epilogue and the back story and context for the series) and really got into it. Have you read them? Ted, have you ever tried raw beef bones? If you haven't, I know a guy. May 25th update: I tried to buy some merch off the MATN site and the links re-direct to a 404 page. They're excellent and fill the gaps just before each of the 3 games, covering Andersons time with Saren before ME1, a dive into Kahlee Sanders and the Ascension Project, Omega and the Collectors, more about Cerberus and the Quarian Fleet, and an interesting insight into how the Reapers control their subjects. The third book also makes Kai Leng an actually interesting character (I KNOW!). I'd go as far to say they've absolutely improved my love of my all-time favourite franchise, and they are definitely worth a read for anyone looking for more Mass Effect. Also, any more questions about the games industry or games design? It's a bit of a dark place right now with all the layoffs, but I'm trying to stay positive. Claire! My partner really wants to move to France one day and you're the only French person I have any sort of contact with, other than one of my old lecturers who didn't have anything nice to say about anything. I recently got into modding fallout 4 from your videos, I was wondering do you have any other mods installed for just making the game work to help with stability and crashes etc. or are these just edited out of video? (By the way I heard about this Nintendo curse on the channel and these are some of my favourite videos, especially fzero gx with you introducing the fzero franchise to me and i am now a big fan! (Really recommend fzero 99 surprisingly great!) I assume tears of the kingdom didn’t do well because it was new I feel breath of the wild in democracy week would be popular as people who have played through and will want to see a first time reaction. No, really, when exactly did Jon start using the word "mosey" approximately 5,000 times per episode? I've been watching for what, 9 or 10 years? Since the damn who's that pokemon video. And I don't remember ever noticing the word mosey popping up every 12 seconds, until the last year or two. Has it just always been there, and I only ever noticed recently? Did Jon hear the word recently(a couple of years ago) and just decide it's the greatest word ever created? Or is this some weird joke that I don't get? Oh well, time to mosey on over to the Pacific Drive video, and see what that's about.

Starfield I have played for maybe 2 hours (most of that in the character editor), Cities Skylines 2 I haven't touched in a while (despite playing 1000+ hours of CS 1), I even can't get myself to reinstall Skyrim these days. Have you ever felt similarly? Any ideas how to solve this crisis? Or is it possible that this is not me, it's the games industry failing to meet my demands?

So it was worked on for 25years (which could mean mechanics in Starfield were taken and put in Skyrim, fallout, etc feel like a copy as we got those games first even if starfield had it first) But there was so much hype for starfield. Do you think that maybe it was over hyped, and therefore is a let down to the hype it caused and if it hadn’t caused any hype and was just realised more people would like it? And I’m liking the game and your videos. Bethesda seem to have swung with starfield and sadly missed for many people. Do you have a theory on why it was a swing and miss (for many people). Also what do you think happened at Bethesda for them to fail at the companions. In fallout 4 you have a companion for each thing (one who likes stealing one who doesn’t etc etc) whereas starfield although different factions all same seem goody two shoes. What do you think happened that caused this mistake. Spoilers starfield (for anyone who hasn’t seen Jon’s series) And lots of people seem to comment about Sarah and her being killed off and people seem rather annoyed a companion dies. Now in fallout (not 4) if you play on hardest difficulty companions die but then they changed that in fallout 4. What is your opinion of companions being able to die (like in fallout) not being able to die (fallout 4) and being scripted to die (like starfield).

Would you rather Spend a long weekend in the underworld (fallout 3) where you have to eat, sleep and socialise and not allowed to leave until Monday Or Spend a long weekend in good neighbour (fallout4) again where you have to eat sleep and socialise are not allowed to leave until Monday Is DiMA more of a good guy or more of a bad guy (he is obviously grey area but I was curious whether you think he is closer to good or bad). What is your opinion on quests that fake a good ending and then turn bad. For example tenpenny in fallout 3. You go there and it’s seems like you have three options 1 - easy side with humans kill ghouls 2- easy side with ghouls and kill humans 3- more effort as you need to diplomat to get everyone to work together and you have success yay everyone lives together or so you think. If you go back you find the ghouls have killed all the humans. To me this was very disappointing (clever writing and reflects the world in the universe very well) but to me I was unsatisfied with the fact that I did every thing I could and the game was giving the hint of happy ending all the end up with basically option 2 (just worked harder for it). What is your opinion on this type of quest where you think you have 3 out comes or one good one bad and one in the middle for the game just send you on a longer route to an option you cold have picked earlier.
