New Year's 2024 Patroncast Submissions - Now Closed

Happy New Year!

So, as it's now the New Year, I'd say this feels like an excellent time for some sort of New Year's Patroncast.

Just in case you're new, this submission thread is where you get to ask questions, suggest topics, or send Ted reassuring cuddles because he doesn't enjoy all the fireworks around this time of year.

So ask away, and I'll update this post when the Patroncast is recorded, so as long as there isn't an edit below saying that, everything should be good :)

EDIT - sorry folks, the Patroncast has now been recorded, so further questions cannot be included.

All the best,

Jon

In terms of schedule and editing. You do you Jon. I personally really like the way you do things. I haven’t been watching as much as usual because the current Fallout series and Starfield just don’t click with me (gave both a few episodes), and that’s had a knock on where I don’t watch every one-off like I normally would. That said I loved the recent Crusader Kings video, and Balatro was a brilliant. Enjoyed Tomb Raider and Timberborn a lot too. With me it usually goes in cycles, if I really like Skies of Arcadia series I’ll probably go back and watch every one-off I’ve missed, because I’ll be in the mood for more MATN content

Spooky_Basil

I'd just like to say I love the specificity of death by dinosaur attack, rather than any generic death :)

Steve Alberts

Completely fair to answer it here and I also agree! The Scandinavians have certainly done something right - as they do with most things, honestly

Keevo

Thanks for the response in regarding to looking at a series staying power for your channel. Nice to know the Starfield series is going to be finished out. As the game ran awfully on my pc, so I couldn't actually play it in any area with npcs in it. Looking forward to it! Also glad to know what your stance on finishing out a series is. I would like to note, that Andromeda was eventually dropped after starting as a series. Meaning the precedence is there. Unless this more firm stance on the topic is more recent than then.

Devin Albertson

Ahhh, now if I can get that working, THAT will be a video.

Many A True Nerd

Oh yay thanks for the reply! Will totally check it out 😃

Alice Roberts

Fair enough. I believe they were taking into account the expectation of the game compared to what they felt was delivered. But I get you 👍

Spooky_Basil

Yes, it is a randomizer for rome:remastered sorry,I forgot the randomizer part, thats my fault

Jeff

I'm sorry - you've lost me - you mean Rome: Total War Remastered which already fully came out a couple of years ago...?

Many A True Nerd

In case you have not seen it, I did actually do a Senua's Sacrifice video back in 2017 in case that's of interest :)

Many A True Nerd

I'm going to answer this here, as I don't particularly want to say anything that suggests beef between me and any other creator, but I disagree, and I think it's a little bit silly to suggest that Starfield - even if it didn't click for you - could even possibly be considered the worst or among the worst games of 2023, in an industry where pathetic asset-flips, blockchain scams and match-puzzle-porn games come out basically every day on Steam.

Many A True Nerd

Fun fact - I actually did play (and make a video about) The Beginner's Guide back in 2015, though I'm not sure it spoke to me as much as it did to some other people.

Many A True Nerd

I can't think of a single person in the community that annoys me - you're fine :)

Many A True Nerd

I'll answer your exact question here as I go into the Starfield series in detail from a couple of other questions - the short version is, like I did with Resident Evil 4, Starfield will now be a slightly more dense series where I try to make more efficient progress, with a view to wrapping the series in spring, and not a more relaxed series that rolls on into late summer. In general, I'm very opposed to just ending a series that was originally started as a full series, for the simple reason that if I did it once, I might do it again - you would have no confidence that any series wouldn't just be abandoned. Once started, a series should be ended.

Many A True Nerd

I just went and gave her a hug.

Many A True Nerd

That sounds like a good idea for a game, but mixed reviews is a spot worrying...

Many A True Nerd

Ok, now that's a lovely game if I have an emergency and need a video in a hurry!

Many A True Nerd

I will admit - I have never seen Seinfeld, so I cannot evaluate this. However, Chat GPT has definitely got a bit confused here. This feels like the Odyssey was used over the Aeneid given entire episodes are dedicated to things that are barely mentioned in Aeneas' wanderings, and the same characters appear to arrive in Italy multiple times...

Many A True Nerd

You'll forgive me if I answer this one day here as politics can get some folks a bit worked up - I guess it depends on your viewpoint as to what the political 'centre' looks like (like, say, what's fairly normal in European social democracies looks left-wing to many Americans), but I'm pretty sure I'd look left-wing to most outlooks. Nothing too extreme, I imagine - I admire the Scandinavian systems, for example.

Many A True Nerd

Slightly late question, but what is your opinion about the complete lack of a questlog in Elden Ring? I almost gave up after 10 hours of pretty mindless wandering, only to Google the "quest" and find that they had pretty arbitrary instructions. After following the quests, however, the game became immediately more fun. To be clear to any FromSoft fan reading, I don't want minimaps and markers, but a log saying "X suggested you go to Y, it may contain Z" would be incredibly handy

Zac Thompson

Nightingale is in early access at the moment (release date 22nd Feb).

Row white

It really depends on the project and size of the company. Indie titles are more likely to release their design ideas and such very early into development, to generate hype and funding etc., locking things down nearer the end of production, whereas larger scale AAA games keep things hush-hush NDA'd up until they have something good enough to show the ever-critical audience, locking things down maybe half a year to a year before release to focus on QA and polishing. As for locking ideas down, it depends on the time frame and scale of production. I personally have a bad habit of overscoping and feature-creep. Having a set lock on projects is incredibly handy, and in some instances almost half of a games production is taken up with just QA and polish. Hope this answers your question!

Zac Thompson

Looking over the trailers, Unheard feels like the most interesting to me - though I'm not sure I found the right Nightingale - the one I found isn't out yet?

Many A True Nerd

Ha - online coop is a rare thing for the channel, but I'll keep these in mind if it ever comes up.

Many A True Nerd

Oh oh, I have a question on game design - how long does an average exist in a state of unannounced planning, design & pre-production before the actual coding and locking things down begins?

Many A True Nerd

There are some interesting thoughts here, some I agree with, some I feel are very much much subjective (I'm very confident that keeping the strongest videos on the weekend days works best) - you're not wrong that not every one-off is special, but neither is it possible for every video to be ground-breaking and unique while also being frequent. Yes, you could argue that means a smaller number of 'better' videos would be better, but that could also be disastrous if it turns out there are lots of folks who are here for regular videos. What you see as uninspiring & predictable, others may think of as cosy & familiar. There are never easy answers when it comes to a black box like YouTube. I suspect, though, you'll enjoy Skies of Arcadia later this year - there could be no bigger example of a game I know & love.

Many A True Nerd

Jon, pick me a game to play on Game Pass. Literally anything.

Rosanna

I'm wondering about your knowledge level of HOI4, whether you've heard anything about it, or if you're going in completely blind.

Igrolf the Nord

Hey Jon, Claire, and Ted. Have you considered playing Timberborn? I bought it a while ago and just got around to playing it, and I think it's very much a Jon game. It's an interesting city builder with a few unique twists. Anyways, wish me luck finding a new place on short notice in the middle of a truly fridged winter, even by Canadian standards.

Mike Ross

Hi Jon et al, With the previews of the rocksteady Suicide Squad game being overwhelmingly negative, and the death of the last of us multilayer game, and most Games as a Service (GAAS) games flopping in the last few years, it looks like the gaming industry might have to reconsider whether GAAS isthe future of gaming, even though publishers clearly really really want it to be. Are there any GAAS games you have actually enjoyed or where you thought the GAAS elements weren't detrimental to the game?

Ivan Myring

This might be a controversial topic; Will you cover games that implement ai in them. Do you have a scaling opinion depending on usage like voices vs art assets vs text and the size of the studio that makes them? Side note: I wonder if chat gpt-esque implementation for npc dialogue will run into the issue of players being unable to replay or spread word of interesting side stories in games because every new game will generate different dialogue for npcs.

Dragmire

I’m begging you, you need to a lethal company stream with Matt, Dan & either UINJ or Claire. It would be incredible. PS: Send Teddy headpats & ear scritches on my behalf. I also send Tabby some heavenly headpats over the rainbow bridge. Seriously I’m going through a lot of mental health issues including addiction issues (Been clean for 4 days now) & your content always brings a smile to my face.

PupsterMcWalton

Hey Jon and Claire! Hope you guys are doing great. I wanted to ask if you checked cities skylines 2 after the video again. I was very disappointed with the launch state and it is still in a rough shape. What do you think about it? Also, if you ever get a PS5 any chance we can get a Demons souls video? The original was my first souls like and the remake is really good.

sublime

Hey Jon, saw your twitter post about youtube retirement and I was genuinely curious when you see yourself retiring? From previous discussions it sounded like you were expecting youtube to blow up before you retired

Ryan Towers

Happy New Year Jon, Claire and Ted!! Looking forward to the annual Valentine's special video. Any chance you will upload the non-hedgehog version (assuming hedgehogs are going to be needed) onto patreon?

Creepus

Hi Jon! I have been a long time fan of the channel ever since fallout 3 kill everything. I want you to know everything I am about to say is trying to be constructive to improve the channel. By any metric, 2023 was am awful year for the channel. With the new year upon us, now would be a good to reflect on the channel about what went wrong and how to do better next year. Before discussing what I believe the main issue with the channel was, let us explore some of the smaller problems. 1. You make no effort to utilize the YouTube algorithm to increase your channel's reach. It is fine not to create content solely to appease the algorithm, but it feels you disregard it to the point of spiting it. (One simple thing to try is mixing up your titles/thumbnails to see if that increases your view count.) 2. Your schedule is not ideal for your viewers. Personally, I enjoy watching your videos after work to relax. However, you only have 3 videos during the workweek. Consider changing the schedule around, maybe move livestreams back Saturdays for example. (I will have a bit more to discuss about the schedule later.) 3. Your editing process takes too long. Whenever you describe your editing process, I am amazed about all the detail that goes into fixing every stutter. To be honest, the end result often feels unnatural. Moreover, it feels you are rushing to get videos out for the sake of getting them out rather than creating unique interesting content. This last point leads into the major issue. To be brutally honest, your content has not been very good this past year. Whenever someone asks how they should get into YouTube, you tell them to focus on something unique that they can bring to the platform. With that in mind, I think most of your content this past year has failed up meet that standard. Your one offs have been, for the most part, uninspiring. The few games that are interesting only comeback as livestreams which are much more difficult to watch. Your series go on too long, often past the point where they have narrative continuity. Moreover, they don't feel all that unique from each other, it feels you are roleplaying the same character over and over. I believe you need to do a better job playing to your strengths that make your channel unique. I believe they are your enthusiasm for games you love, communicating knowledge of the games you know well (fallout, early total war), and your ability to role play (fallout 3 kill everything). To improve your channel, you need to do a better job playing to these strengths. (To be continued...)

Shawn Rosofsky

Hi, Jon! Claire, and Teddy as well, of course. And in spirit, always, good old Meatball... I mean Tabby! Do you think you'll ever go back to Valheim? Back when you did a video on it, you did say you might come back to it one day.

Bjorn van Rijszen

Happy new(ish) year Jon, Claire and Ted! What are your thoughts on how Starfield is going as a series? Have you had to change anything about how you structure an episode etc? And do you think it will hit the 100 episode mark?

Tom Armitage

Hi Jon and Claire, I was wondering why I never receive adverts on your sim settlement play through. Is this because of the gore in FO4 and is it annoying that the more popular series has no adverts.

Mojomonkey

Hi Jon Claire and Teddy! No question this month just wanted to give a recommendation for my fellow MATN fans, I never watched the Deadly Premonition series until now but I would highly recommend it. The series still holds up today and the weird janky game is just fantastic to watch.

Terro1888

Jon, are you worried that memes will run your channel now that you have given seth that zoo tycoon video? already I see more like it, and I can't imagine it'll go away soon. fortunately for you, I have suggestion for a crucial meme you should strike back at, and it's one even older than zoo tycoon requests: you should finish return of the obra dinn

Anna D

Also Jon I think you have started something - now everyone seems to do day something of requesting game. Good luck with all of those. But still a cute gesture what you did.

Row white

Loving starfield series - keep it up. Awesome series and I love playing along side

Row white

Why do you seem to play female characters in a lot of your games? I know it's not all the time (looking at you, Mayor Bob), but it happens quite a bit. Apologies if you already answered this in the past.

Erstwhile Egret

I'm rewatching Jon's Oblivion playthrough, it's so good that I'm waiting for potential MATN Morrowind playthrough more than release of Elder Scrolls 6. Thank you [all 3] for entertainment.

Andris Grīnbergs

Jon in your original Nuka world run with bacon you called the Mr Frothy - Mr frothy. However when you did the Nuka world survival run you called them Mr fizzy instead of frothy. How come you changed, my guess is frothy can be one of those words that’s sounds different every time said but I’d love to know the actual reason. Also loving your new fallout series along with Starfield. Love it.

Row white

Merry New Year, Ted, Claire and Jon! I had a thought the other day that I've been watching you since about year 8, and I'm now preparing to do my Masters project. I thought about switching things up this month, and I'll let you ask the questions. So, do you have any questions about the games industry or games design? For Claire, have you read many science fiction books? If so, what was your favourite? I thoroughly enjoyed Neuromancer and The Hitchhikers Guide series Ted, who's a good boy? (Hint: It might be you!)

Zac Thompson

Happy New Year! Thank you so much for reintroducing me to Rome: Total War, I had played it when I was younger but completely forgotten about it. Do you have any tips for making the AI engage you in sally battles during sieges, to get them in range of your towers?

Stian Øverbye

Two more recommendations We were here too We were here forever.

Hello Ted, Claire, and lastly Jon, my questions this month are as such. Jon, have you heard about the new “Railroader” game that allows you the ability to control a small American short line railroad with all types of equipment? And Claie, do you have any specific rules for picking up a new book? Mine is that I must read the first 100 pages, if it has my interest than I continue, if not then I put it down and move on. And this month FOR TED chicken or beef food which is better?

Daniel Friel

So I suspect I'm not the first person to ask this and you've already considered it before, but any chance of a Fallout 4 Kill Everything run? I assume it's not as conducive to a kill everything run as the other Fallout games, but the charm to me was always in your jokes and commentary anyways. I'd love to just watch you run around the Commonwealth killing stuff. Regardless, thanks for everything Jon and Claire (and Ted)!

Drongo

Jon, what made BG3 finally click for you when it didn’t quite hit the mark earlier?

ZVL

Hey Jon, Claire & Ted - happy new year and I hope you're all doing well. Just wondering if you'd seen the trailer for Starminer - a new game from paradox. One of the comments on YT summed it up quite well - "Someone at Paradox looked at the ancient mining drones in Stellaris and thought, "We could make a game out of this." "!! Also, any plans to revisit Dyson Sphere Program now they've added combat? Regards Steve

Steve Childs (MGSteve)

Hi Jon, I have two questions this month. Firstly I was wondering if you were going to do a new video and/or a livestream on megaquarium as in October they released a new dlc about cold animals like penguins, polar bears and anglerfish which from the outer wilds I gather that you love. Secondly I wanted to know what you originally planned to do with your classics degree. I have just finished university in America with a degree in history and am planning on pursuing my masters and PhD and it made me wonder what your plan with classics was.

James Renouf

Happy New Year Jon, Claire and Ted hope you three have a great year ahead. Jon - With you doing a series on Skies of Arcadia is there another game that you would like to tackle. next?. Claire - How do you feel about Tintin and do you have a favourite story? I grew up watching the animated series and I'm about to show them to my nephew Arthur. Day 1 of request Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude (Sorry I couldn't resist)

Yorkshire Bhoy

Happy New Year Jon, Claire and Ted Jon! How would you describe yourself politically, and how much have your views changed, if at all, throughout your life?

Keevo

Hey Jon! Any pro tips for flatting? Nightmare stories?

Thomas Clark

are you planning on doing fallout london when its out.

Jon, it's been much to long since your last classics rant, I've asked chatgpt to rewrite the Aeneid as a series of Sienfelt episodes. Can you comment on how good of a job it did? Episode 1: "Aeneas, the Wanderer" Jerry discovers a strange new neighbor, Aeneas, who has just arrived in the neighborhood after fleeing the fall of Troy. Aeneas can't stop talking about his epic journey to find a new home in Italy, and the gang gets caught up in his quest. George is convinced that Aeneas stole his idea to escape a burning building via a wooden horse. Meanwhile, Elaine is intrigued by Aeneas' hunky friend, Dido, and Kramer is convinced that the Trojans were onto something with that horse. Episode 2: "Dido's Dilemma" Elaine and Aeneas' friend, Dido, hit it off, but their budding romance threatens to derail Aeneas' mission. Aeneas seeks relationship advice from Jerry, who's never been good at relationships. Meanwhile, George tries to get a date with a woman he meets at Aeneas' welcome party, but his "wooden horse" story backfires, and Kramer tries to reenact the Trojan Horse strategy to enter a party in style. Episode 3: "The Sirens' Song" Aeneas' crew warns him about the dangers of the Sirens' irresistible song, but he's determined to navigate the treacherous waters. Kramer and George see a business opportunity in bottling and selling the Sirens' song, while Elaine tries to convince Aeneas that the Sirens' song isn't worth the risk. Meanwhile, Jerry gets annoyed by Aeneas' inability to resist the Sirens, leading to a hilarious showdown. Episode 4: "Did You See That Cyclops?" Aeneas and his friends encounter a Cyclops on their journey, and they narrowly escape. They recount their tale to the gang back in Jerry's apartment, with each of them embellishing their role in the escape. Hilarity ensues as they try to outdo each other with their heroic stories, and George decides he's the true hero because he was never there in the first place. Episode 5: "The Tragic Love Triangle" As Aeneas and his group arrive in Italy, they discover a new problem – a love triangle between Aeneas, Dido, and another potential love interest, Lavinia. Aeneas is torn between his duty and his heart, leading to a Shakespearean-style love triangle. Meanwhile, Elaine tries to give Aeneas relationship advice, but it backfires spectacularly. Episode 6: "The Fall of Troy... Again?" Aeneas and his gang find themselves facing another potential catastrophe as the Trojans who stayed behind in Troy arrive in Italy, leading to a comical showdown with Aeneas and his group. George decides he's going to claim the wooden horse idea as his own to win the day, but things quickly spin out of control, and hilarity ensues. Episode 7: "The Wrath of Juno" Aeneas' journey takes a detour when they face the wrath of Juno, who's been causing them all sorts of troubles. George believes that Juno is his personal nemesis, and Kramer starts an unlikely business venture, trying to sell "anti-wrath" charms. Meanwhile, Elaine tries to befriend Juno to get some divine intervention in her own life. Episode 8: "The Epic Conclusion" Aeneas finally reaches Italy, but his epic journey is far from over. He must confront Turnus and the local Italians, leading to a final showdown. The gang gets caught up in the action, with Elaine convincing Aeneas to settle down with Dido and Kramer thinking he can broker a peace deal with his "serenity now" mantra. And so, in the style of Seinfeld, "The Aeneid" is filled with humorous mishaps, quirky characters, and absurd situations that make even an epic adventure seem like a laugh-out-loud sitcom.

AHuggingSam

Hi Jon, which video essay are we more likely to see on your chanel: "Starfield is better than you think!" or "Starfield: What went wrong and how to fix it."?

Jens Mueller

Hi Jon! With Daggerfall Unity now released, which even supports mods to spiffy it up even more, would you consider doing a playing that on the channel?

Landon Pool

Hey, Jon! When can we expect the Civ 6 all DLC insanity run?

Joseph Henderson

In the spirit of New Years, Fuck marry kill: Yourself from 2000, yourself from 2010 and yourself from 2020 Assuming that killing your past self won't delete any future versions.

Tortoise Of Legends

Jon and Claire, have either of you ever got into any MMOs in a big way? Not sure I've seen any featured on the channel. Ted, what's your favourite place for an afternoon nap?

Wimble

Hi Jon, given its a year full of elections, when roughly do you think DEMOCRACY WEEK 2024 will be happening?

Helixspace

I just wanted to say you are a beautiful person. The zoo tycoon video dedicated to LibrarianSeth. You are just lovely that was such a feel good for the community you are just amazing.

Row white

Jon, I hope you all had a lovely Christmas & New Year’s! Have you ever thought about adding your outro music to the end of the patroncast? It always feels strange to hear you say goodbye without then hearing the music.

Martin Cox

Jon if you had waited til Saturday for the zoo tycoon video then the request number would have reached 1234 :(

Anna D

Happy new year Jon, Claire & Ted ! A question for Claire : Would you prefer to live in a house designed by Jon, or in a city designed by Jon? Also, bon anniversaire !

Ricco

Hi, Jon and Claire! Question for Jon: how likely are you to play The Long Dark? It's a very atmospheric survival game that also has a story mode. What about other survival/base building games like Don't Starve? All the cuddles for Ted!

JH

Happy New Year! Hope Ted was okay through all the fireworks and that you and Claire had a good time <3 I have a suugestion for a game that I recently played with friends that would seem like a great game for you Dan and Matt (and room for some others): Pulsar: Lost Colony. It's very much like Star Trek meets FTL where you get to explore space and you all take on specific roles on the ship i.e. Captain, Science officer, Pilot, Weapons, and Engineer. Plus you can be robots or even aliens!

mrvalane

Happy New Year Jon, Claire and Ted! Thank you for the birthday shout out last time. Do you think there are any more Fallout 4 Challenge Runs out there for you? Have you any thoughts about new (unmodded) ways to play F4, or do you think you've tapped that well dry seeing 'Kill Everyone' and 'Kill No-one' aren't really an option? For one, I think a no settlements build - only crafting and sleeping in locations discovered in the wild - would shake up a survival run or make for an interesting one-life-only very hard mode run, and would push the knowledge of the map to its limits. You'd have to carry everything you need yourself, spend level ups on perks in the endurance tree you'd usually ignore etc.

Leftback

Jon, as I was going to recommend A Highland Song and you did a video on that. Thanks! I'll instead ask for you to look at Tiny Glade, it has a similar feel as Townscaper.

Daffy

Jon, do you ever need a break from fallout, I think there's always been a ongoing fallout series on the channel, at least since it became a full time job

JP pierce

Happy New Year Jon, Claire and Ted! With this year's upcoming democracy week is there any chance you will put Elder Scrolls 2: Daggerfall on the list? The Daggerfall Unity project just hit 1.0 and is feature complete now. You can easily mod the game to look better too. It would complement your Fallout and Fallout 2 series for an old school RPG.

Jeff Mossop

What's your top 5 single playthrough games of all time? These are games that are very enjoyable to play the first time but you never feel like playing again for whatever reason. An example I would bring up is Outer Wilds.

Dragmire

Hi, ya'll.. Jon how do you feel about Starfield's dialogue? personally, it doesn't feel like a step up, but i'm stoked to hear your opinion!

Skipp

Jon, during the height of covid you said you had gained the desire to get out and travel a bit when the world got back to normal. Now that things are more or less back to normal, have you reverted back to your desire to stick around England? :P

Canadas Bacon

Jon and Claire what mythical or fantasy creature would you want as a pet and have you heard of Amazing Superhero Squad which isn't a game were you play as the heroes instead you play as a corporation managing them

SamTheSensualSapphist

Hi Jon! It was Claire’s birthday last month. Can you wish her a sincere and loving happy birthday from all of us?

Michael Reitema

Hello Ted, Claire, and Jon. Primarily wishing you a happy New Year. I don't know if you've been keeping an eye on it, but The Planet Crafter is approaching it's 'full release' soon, they have added a great deal to it, might be worth taking another look.

Copper Hamster

Hey Jon, might come off negative, don't mean it to. You've talked previously about how the numbers were low for the RE4 remake series. Stating, if I'm remembering right, that it really shouldn't have been a series with the views it was pulling, i.e one offs were getting much more. Ya said you did the whole series because you were enjoying it and just wanted to do it. Which was awesome, really enjoyed that one. Now Starfield has got to the point of the videos getting similar or less views than the one offs (not looking at the recent weeks views since they could trail in). I would imagine you are going to stick out the whole playthrough for the series. What's your thoughts on where the Starfield views have gotten to in regard to the RE4 series. The following question now is more broad an not exactly referencing your Starfield series. I was curious on your thoughts about long term retention on a series this large vs a theoretical wrap up and doing a more engaging series.

Devin Albertson

Hello Jon, i have a simple question. Do you plan to play Vampire Bloodlines 2 when it releases late this year? And will you play the first one before that? I assume the first one would get a one-off video, maybe a live-stream if it's popular.

Tibor Hrdlovič

Hi Jon, I was recently rewatching your Fallout Frost series for the third time and I consider it one of your best, mostly because it was a challenge run that was challenging you all through the end. It at no point turn into a tutorial. I know you found it frustrating and since you had such a complete play, I guess you are not considering a comeback? Anything similar in the backlog?

Christian

Are there any games from 2023 that you haven’t been able to get around to playing that you really want to?

Andromeda Star

Happy new year Jon,claire and Ted I hope you have a great 2024 Question for you both what's one thing that Ted does that makes you instantly smile ?

GamerGeorgeXl

Hi Jon, Claire and Ted, Hope you had a good start of 2024. I want to try to be more assertive and stop worrying about things I could just clear up, so here it goes? Do my questions or presence annoy the MATN entity? I sometimes feel it would be better if I just stayed quiet, and basically not there? Anyway onto more fun things, I have a game suggestion. I know the last few didn't pan out but maybe this is the one? 'Witchfire' a 'soulslike' shooter with pistols and magic? Made by a small team and it looks pretty amazing! They say it can run on a 660? If you into those things? 😄 Onto more morbid things, maybe? I have a question about YT ad revenue? If you would get attacked by dinosaurs and not make it would Claire then keep receiving the slow trickle of ad money or would YT be sad about the lost future revenue but also be 'happy' that they can now keep all the ad money from all the videos you've ever done? If you can pass the ad money down, how far down do you think it would go? Grandkids? Great grandkids? Lost, lost cousins?🤔 About things to bother you with.. So the 'most likely' map expansion of 76 in 2024? How do you feel about it? You never returned for the BOS story so would this be something you'd return for? You always said the map was great! I'm pretty excited but I always had fun with people in 76, I dread the day they pull the plug. Also running joke in the 76 community is that Starfield is the new 76? 🤭As 76 might get more content in 2024 than Starfield? Looking at the posts they made? And lastly a question for Claire! Mighty Claire, do you have game sounds during streams? I remember it coming up a few times over the years and it is 2024 now, so I was curious? Also is Ted now the HR and Union rep? 🤔 Hope you all have a great start of the year and that the fireworks weren't to bad. Here they started the 30th and didn't stop until early morning of the first. 🙃

Smitje

Happy new year folks. Does Ted have any holiday outifts/clothes? Christmas jumper, halloween costume, etc.

Dean McCaffrey

Happy New Year to you three! What do you have in your garden? I've heard Claire had a lot of success growing peas and beans. What else do you grow in your garden? Any fruit trees?

NerdyChuning

Hello Jon, Claire, and Ted! I come with a request for a recommendation and a recommendation myself! First, and it may be worth asking Claire this, but do you know any books that are more about trying to figure out what happened? I mean storied like that of Vault 11 where the end is basically already known but the question is how it happened? And second I have a recommendation, however this is not a game that would work as a video and would just be for you to play in your spare time. Don't look anything up about it but it's a ca 1.5 hour game called "The Beginners Guide" and will tug on your heartstrings. It's from the same guy that did the Stanley Parable but is much less humorous and more emotional. Give it a shot, it's less than £10 on steam and one of the best games I've ever played. Happy New Year to all of you!

Eliza Kontiokari

Happy New Year Jon, Claire and Ted! 😁 Jon! What do you think of Dan and Steph Sterling both putting Starfield as their worst game of the year?

Spooky_Basil

I’ve always assumed Dan just picks his favourite games (with the exception of worst game of the year), and then makes the categories up after 😆

Spooky_Basil

I’ve always assumed he nicked cock/cocking from James May

Spooky_Basil

Jon how is Ted getting on and how was your new year

ShugM25

Happy New Year Jon! Given you've done extensive series on the game now are there any upcoming plans you can tease in regards to the future of Fallout New Vegas on the channel, do you still have a few ideas for the game or do you think you're approaching the point where you've covered it almost completely?

Pyper Caldwell

Happy New Year! How was your 2023, in terms of the channel? Being such a data/spread sheet guru, I’m curious what your biggest take aways are, and your impression as to the state of the channel?

Reformed Nerd

Hi Jon! While I'm aware you're not really familiar with the Percy Jackson series, I thought, in honor of the new show's debut, it'd be interesting to hear your answers to some of these fan questions from a purely classicist perspective... Which of the Olympian Gods do you think would most likely be your godly parent? What skills do you believe you could have inherited from your godly parent? What kind of quest do you think your godly parent would send you on?

Christina (shrugs)

Jon, thoughts on the Fallout TV show trailer? Anything significant in your mind we saw, or didnt see?

Canadas Bacon

Happy new year! I have to ask about your use of the word cocking/cock instead of fucking/fuck - is this something you did before you started the channel or did you start doing it in order to avoid swearing? If its the latter, do you find yourself using it in every day life now? Also recommendation for hellblade: senua's sacrifice - an amazing, atmospheric game with wonderful storytelling and brilliant acting. The main character has psychosis and hears voices and they consulted mental health professionals as well as people who experience this to make an accurate representation and help people understand it better.

Alice Roberts

Jon, please use this slot to go off about how much you love the Las Vegas sphere and to express your disappointment that London turned down a similar project.

Canadas Bacon

Happy new year MATN team! Do you have any worry that if you end up doing a BG3 playthrough on the channel it will take a long time to record to get enough for a full video compared to other games? Also, FO4 YOLO endcard when? (please include the near-miss missile) Last minute/edit addition. the Rome: total war remastered is in 1.0 and is looking for feedback. Here is a link to the github if you are at all interested https://github.com/sargeantPig/RTWLibTools

Happy New Year, Jon, Claire, and Ted! A couple of questions regarding Democracy Week. Are there any likely candidates for the next iteration of Democracy Week, as and when it comes? Is Skies of Arcadia still likely to get its own series before then?

Carabas

Jon! If you were in charge of the Civilisation 7 game, would you have Queen Elizabeth II represent England, and if not, who would you have represent England?

Miyaa

Happy New Year Ted, Claire, and Jon! Do you watch or follow Games Done Quick events? Awesome Games Done Quick 2024 is starting on January 14th (if this even happens to come out early enough...)

Steven Ness

Hi Jon! Happy New year! Sorry if asked before: are you going to do a series of Fallout: London? My heart is in sad little pieces as it’s only a mod for PC and I am clearly console. Would love to see ole Blighty ‘with you’!

LadyTato

How’s you? How’s Claire? How’s Ted? Hope you had a lovely Christmas and New Year. Do you have any resolutions Jon and Claire? Hope Ted was alright with fireworks. Fuck marry kill - drink addition where fuck - drink it’s sometimes marry- you drink it all the time kill- you never drink it. Nuka cola quantum (fallout) Blend (starfield) skooma(Skyrim)

Row white

Now that you have played more of Starfield, any predictions on what Shattered Space might bring? Also, what is your ideal Starfield Survival mode, since we know customizable things including survival metrics are coming.

Stephen M McKellep

First time asking a question but Happy New Year to Jon, Claire and Ted! This question is mainly for Jon but of course if Claire has anything to add I'd love to hear your opinion to! Anyway onto the question; Jon I know you've had pretty mixed opinions on Doctor Who overall with both Steven Moffat and Chris Chibnall but I was just curious if you've watched the most recent specials and if so what are your thoughts on them?

Lily Evans

Hey Jon, our old pup went on to the great Couch in the Sky (14 year old 100lb lab mix), but our new addition to the family, Buddy, wants to know if the next KOTOR series (2?) will kick off this year? Oh, and did you expect Sims Settlements 2 to take this long to get through?

Kevin Wixom

Happy new year to Jon, Claire, and Ted! Looking forward to all the yearly traditions again this year, as well as all the other good stuff! FMK (Christmas roast edition): Carrots, parsnips, brussel sprouts FMK (end card edition): 'The bear is still around', 'A metaphore for lesbian sex', 'How long has butter been doing this!?!' To Claire: FMK (yearly traditions): Valentine's specials, Cooking anniversairy specials, Jon birthday chaos What are your thoughts on the NerdCubed style for awards, and have you ever considered adding categories for your awards?

Steve Alberts

Happy New Year! In your and Claire's opinions, what is the scariest type of horror, and what is the most interesting type of horror and why? (body, folk, cosmic, cult, ect) Personally the scariest to me is psychological and the most interesting is either body or cosmic

Aaron Martinez

Jon, what are your hopes for the Starfield DLC? What will turn it from an okay game into a great one? Also, please use thrusters when in space combat, it helps manoeuvrability so much (using mouse and kb admittedly). Hope Ted was okay with the fireworks, our rescue dog Willow survived with lots of cuddles.

Sprout Winkler

Happy New Year! Of all the Fallout runs you've done on the channel, which would you say has taught you the most about the game in question (e.g. in terms of new types of character build, perks you wouldn't usually take, areas or quests you were previously less familiar with)?

Megan Bradbury

Jon, Happy new year! hope you had a fantastic Christmas. The wife and I are getting in to board games for 2024 (a resolution if you will). We’ve been playing Battle for Hogwarts and really enjoying it as a Co-op game. Do you have any other co-op board game recommendations that aren’t pandemic (put off by, you know, the recent pandemic) Bonus points for role play or fantasy aspects x

Tom Boldero

Happy New Year! If you could have a sequel or prequel to any game that doesn't already have one, what would that be?

Robyn

Happy new year Jon Claire and Ted. Now that Fallout London has a full release date of St George's day will it replace sim settlements in the Sunday slot, or will it get a spot in democracy week 2024 as its the size of a full sized Bethesda title? (Same size as F4 and FH put together I believe)

Declan Manock

Hello Jon Claire and family, Jon I know you don’t listen to the radio in Fallout in videos because of copyright issues, but when you’re playing offline do you have the radio on?

Brian Bunton

Happy New year to the MATN family! So what are your predictions for both the channel itself and overall Gaming in 2024? Big Hopes? Small Fears? etc.

Travis Reis

Completely random, but coming to London for the first time in Spring (from PNW). Recommendations for places to eat. :)

Ryan Stasel

Happy new year, Jon! How is Ted? Did he survive the fireworks?
