So the next year, she decided to climb the Mayon volcano again. She didn't much like the photo, since looking at herself, she thought she looked more like a guy than how she wanted to look. It was clear she'd made progress, but it felt like there was so much further to go.
The second year, proud of the changes in her body, she dressed more femme. Finally, she thought, looking at the photo after, I look pretty good.
For the fourth year, she hired a professional photographer. This meant the photo ended up looking a little "glossier" than the others, but she was okay with that. She wanted to show off how lucky she'd been. Most trans girls didn't end up as "blessed" as she felt. She wanted to show that, even in the Phillipines -- a place with high acceptance for the LGBT, but poor legal rights for trans people -- she could climb the mountain.
