As Fook rowed the tender in to the docks, my mind continued to race on understanding the situation and how I could best distract the guards.
As the dots began to fall into place, I began to realize why, even way back on the ship, Moon had been so quick to get amused. He had realized what I was going to do as soon as the situation presented itself -- of course this is how things were going to go. Of course.
I could see the dragonfolk lookout standing on the roof of the little resort here looking at our party with interest. And so -- this was the plan, I guess -- I took the lead, taking out my lute and beginning to play.
"Hey there, scales ~ I've been sailing all day, and you know, I've been looking forward to the waters of these springs. Think we all might take a break and go for a little -- dip?" I began.
I'm not really that into dragonfolk, I thought to myself. But that had nothing to do with what we were doing here -- this was a mission. It was the classic, the iconic, bardic seduction check.
Who do you think you're keeping guard for?
You'd have to sail a day to find a store.
Look at those enchanting waters below,
Wouldn't it be nice to feel their flow?

It didn't take long for some of the dragonfolk to come down and look at me with greater curiosity. I might not be hugely into dragonfolk -- but I definitely could tell that these dragonfolk pirates, stuck out here holding this dock, were interested in me. In that case, might as well lay it on thick!
Hey scales -
Hey scales -
Won't you come take a dip with me?
Won't you come relax with me?
Don't you wanna get to know me?
Won't you take a chance with me?

They seemed interested enough, and began to follow me down to the hot springs. As they came closer, I only began to feel more and more intimidated by them. They practically towered over me, and walked with the swagger of pirates but the latent strength of dragonfolk.
I stayed focused on my song.
Even warriors need reprieve,
Don't you have faith? Believe.
The air is wet and the day is warm,
Smell the air --
We only have a little time before the storm.
This was spontaneous, my mind registering things before I fully processed them. But now that I thought about it, there probably would be a storm coming soon.
A storm in either case -- a storm of rage if Moon and the others didn't take out the rest of these pirates! I had no way of knowing how much progress they were making.
Even as we descended further down into the hot springs, I grew more and more nervous -- feeling more and more vulnerable and alone with them.
But I just kept laying it on as thick as I could:
I want to listen to you all night long,
Hear your story and see just how strong
The warmth of those gentle waters might be.
Come on, won't you take a dip with me?
