She could, if she thought to try :P And yeah, Elle is definitely overestimating the extent that Lillian perceives herself as vulnerable. Lillian has always been a tiny magical fairy; Elle however has always been big and has never considered the possibility that a hawk might actually see them as prey before. (Not that a hawk probably would in this world; they probably have learned from mistakes in the past going after fairies)
