Patreon devlog update 119: end of small sanctuary

heyo peeps! i have quite a bit of stuff to show you today! so first thing first , my good friend zaru

 lent himself to take on the role of zap for the lil mortal kombat pastiche we have in zap & andy

and i'm super happy with how he turned out as him! here's the animations i cobbled together with the footage he took-

a simple walk

an idle

a lil emote

and a talking animation

took some photos from friends and family for the bg and voila ! we have a mk clone on our hands XD i think it looks pretty convincing!

 now, taking a lil break from the arcade onto a bit more boring stuff, i decided to go on making the remaining bgs for the casino. We're almost there for those, i only need something like three of them to finish the whole chapter!

anyways one of these bgs is the place where the shaman, moshennik holed up collecting sins and creating a feedback loop in hell's economy that grants the damned a small asylum that he can control a bit like a benevolent god.

the place is a mix of a greek temple and a frat party, and can be found at the center of the casino area:

of course i had to animate the bg a little, nothing too crazy, just to liven it up a bit

 and what frat/toga party can be called like that without the people in it? most of these characters will be static because ... christ i don't want to go completely bonkers in doing that, but i did animate three lil groups of characters to liven it up a bit

so i animated the couple on the right dancing

the guys on the left playing beer pong

and the guys on the couch having sex

on the throne on the left will be moshennik- you might remember him from the motel level, he's the guy who fixes zap the cocktail to enter andy's dreams-

i've already sketched him when first doing concepts for the casino, but i wasn't too thrilled with the design

i mean , he's fine but we already have a super fat demon in another room and i didn't want to have another screen sized fat guy , so i tried something a bit different and a bit more related to the concept of him posing as a salvific deity in hell

 altho now that i think about it some of the details of the previous design are kinda cool, like the flaming skull goblet and glowing dick. i might include them in this design too.
