2026-01-04 03:26:16 +0000 UTCIn a big convoy it is not much of a problem. Send a few dozen ships packed with soldiers north to Seaguard or Saltstream (the Moat's western port town), and no Ironborn will try to attack, unless they call on the whole Iron Fleet, then it will not be a problem.

2026-01-04 03:11:06 +0000 UTCBy the time the campaign against the West started, they had 8 thousand men in the Riverlands, 24 thousand men attacking the West, 4-6 thousand men from diferent Northern houses in the North (this are mostly leavies though, the real fighting men are south), and Jon has ordered Sam to recruit as many men as he could and have them train to become part of his Army, they are adding up quickly, swelling with riverlanders fleeing north and the many promises and benefits the army gives. They might reach up to 5,000 in some time, but their training will not be over for a while. The campaign in the West has cost a few thousand, but Sarsfield's joining has brought a few hundred back. The problem now is garrison duties, as they have to protect the many castles that have been taken. Jon and Robb might have as many as 28 thousand men for another offensive or big battle.

I think Clegane, lorch, crakehall and lydden where mentioned. I remember that house brax was the westernader house with the worst luck, so many of them died. Frankly the only one we could reasonably assume was innocent is house Farman of fairisle, with how much they hate ironborn they could make common cause with daemon.

I have a feeling Cersei or Joffrey are about to use the girls as retaliation. Jon needs find a way to get the them out of Kings Landing and fast. A central bank controlled by the crown is a very good idea. No more does the King of Westeros need to bag at the feet of the iron bank for a loan. I wonder how Daenerys will react all this news above what’s going on.

Another question is what Jon would intend for him, he might have to break Stannis before he can make him bend, but would he still offer favorable terms? House Baratheon in particular Stannis has no real negative impact on the rebellion so it doesn’t make sense to just make the house extinct or leave it under Shireen or Renlys kid only. They might bristle at the Targaryeans being back but they’d more willingly follow Neds sons then the other factions. Only thing I can see the Vale bending to is maybe FAegon. If Baelish tries to get in good as to avoid the block from Jon. (Low-key forgot the details surrounding Baelish in this story lol) but if the Vale does join then then they’ll have a direct path to strike at the Riverlands and cut off northern support if they can hold a choke point at the neck

2026-01-03 16:19:12 +0000 UTCGreat chapter! Jon focuses on revenge for Ned, but he doesn’t seem to think about the long term narrative, which will doubtlessly focus on the targaryens. His legitimacy as king comes from his Targ heritage, and so his justification for cruelty can come from there too. The sack of the Rock is an answer to the sack of King’s Landing. The atrocities of stripping the tombs is an answer to the atrocity of stabbing a king in the back and murdering Targ women and children in cold blood. If Jon wins the throne, then the lore of the Lannisters will become “you might defeat house Targaryen for a generation, but the cost will be unimaginable”. Thanks so much for writing!!

2026-01-03 15:13:33 +0000 UTCExcellent chapter great way to start the day I think you captured their wealth very well tbh tho I’m not so sure on the exact amount, just cuz of how much gold already usually counts for, 20 gold dragons doesnt sound like a lot till you recall theres upwards of 45K Men in the army lol. Honestly though the fallout from this might just cost every crownlands house rhat can, GTfO dodge and other Westerlands houses to bow Also.. somewhat conflicted on Tywin not just giving up in exchange for some semblance of Lannisters to retain control possibly of Lannisport even. atp he’s losing badly and his entire family is hostage. Tyrion will need to keep the Starks under tight lock and key otherwise Joffrey or Cersei might do something stupid. Though we do see Jon’s fear repitieron is started to proceed him. The Westerlands will break but the Tyrell’s might fear what not joining him does now, or just lock up and defend the reach and wait out the war. Is the Lannister fleet still in play? I imagine parts of it are still in tact at least but going by sea is still risky. Iron born would be the kind of stupid folk to raid ships wirh low men and say they earned every penny. Either way this is going to take thousands of men to transport all the gold. Personally funding a new Harrenhall reconstruction seems the best option IMO will touch up more on this later

Before they can reach Seagard they must pass by the Iron Islands and I sincerely doubt that Balon will just let all of these ships pass without issue. They won’t be able to outsail Ironborn longships while carrying all that cargo. In fact I doubt they could outsail the Ironborn regardless of cargo as the Northmen have no sailors with them.

Stannis is just kinda there, we haven’t had an interlude with him so I got no idea how he’d react to this event. Tyrells, if their choices are Stannis, who killed Renly, Dorne, and Daemon they might actually join up but the price? Don’t see what they could extract from Daemon really. They just might see that Daemon is clearly on the winning side so join up with him to save themselves. Dorne, oh boy, I cant wait to see their reactions at having essentially chosen the wrong Targaryen. If Daemon ends the male Lannister line after all this they’re definitely going to regret their decisions lol. Daemon effectively ending the Lannister house as he is will cause some major chaos.

2026-01-03 14:34:28 +0000 UTCIt's not often we see the end of a House as storied as the Lannisters in fanfic, they usually hang around. either Tyrion or Jaime or Tommen rule after they get beat down when theres a Targ restoration. And you are more than right- If Tywin sat in Winterfell there wouldn't even be stone left. Great chapter and I think you captured the absurd wealth of the Lannisters well. I did think we were gonna get another interlude though, the fall of the Rock and effectively the west... No one in the 8000 year history of the realm has managed that. No one. But regardless, Great chapter!
