“I know how to cook,” Chris scoffs.

Syd chokes on what I can only guess is her spit or air. Her eyes are wide as she stares at him. “You did not just lie with a straight face. You don’t remember almost burning my safe house down?”

“Your oven was faulty!”

“Oh yea,” Bradley sings, “I remember that. Because I remembered questioning why you would try to use an oven in a shady safe house in the first place.”

“That has nothing to do with my cooking ability, though.”

“No,” I add, “but it does say something about common sense, which you need for cooking.”

“Hey babe, whose team are you on?”

“The one that delivers an edible breakfast.”

Bradley taps him on the shoulder. “That means not yours. In case your hearing was suffering just as bad as your sense of smell.”

“I came in here to cook <<if $romance is chris>>my partner<<else>>my lovely friend here<</if>> some breakfast and I get attacked. The fuck is this about? What did I do to either of you?” He asks, pointing to Syd and then to Bradley.

“I just want the breakfast I was promised,” I sigh. “You came in here, and now you have my mouth watering, and I’m beginning to think you won’t fall through.”

“I was doing fine before these two came in here.” He turns to the two in question. “I came in here to cook <<if $bf_chris >=2>>my best friend<<else>>my friend<</if>> some breakfast, and I get attacked. The fuck is this about? What did I do to either of you?”

“Exist,” Syd replies.

“Eat eggs over easy,” Bradley answers at the same time. We all descend into laughter as Bradley moves to check on the french toast, and Sydero grabs some plates.
