Checking In (New Videos Soon)

What up Sonic Squad, just posting a little update so you guys know I'm still alive. I'm currently working on quite a few different projects at the moment, but you can expect to see multiple videos up on the main channel in March. Some of the stuff I'm working on right now is going to be for larger projects that probably won't be out till sometime later this year. I'd really love to try making some longer videos like my Chao one again, although that one took me quite a while to make.

Back in 2020 when I was working on that batch of videos I released in September I would often bounce between video projects, like I'd spend an entire day doing DK64 stuff, then the next day doing Space Station Silicon Valley work, etc. It helped me from getting burnt out on any one idea, and it was cool to try and find connections between them and find ways to tie them together.

Another reason I always take forever is I'm very self-critical with my videos and I'm always anxious about becoming one of those youtubers who gets worse over time, but I also realize being hyper self-conscious can basically it's own form of narcissism when you're so obsessed over details nobody else is going to notice, to the point where it can slow down production, so I'm trying to find a balance that allows me to do good work at a reasonable pace.

Anyways if you're cool enough to follow me on Patreon you probably already follow my twitter and were aware of this but I have been continuing to collaborate with other creators, guesting in videos and doing other fun stuff like that Live Debate with LS Mark about SA2 vs Heroes, and I also had the privilege of voicing "Tom" in Chapter 8 of Tails Gets Trolled. I also did a little streaming on Twitch last month and uploaded the vods to Youtube if you missed it. Now that I have the stream stuff set up I just need to work out a schedule to do it regularly, which I will do after the March videos are out.

Honestly even though I've been doing this for years there's still part of me that feels weird about the fact people like me enough to send me money. Like this might sound strange but please only give me money if you really, truly have some extra disposable income that doesn't need to go somewhere more important. I don't mind taking your money if you made a bunch on meme stocks and/or crypto, or maybe if you're some kind of rich Saudi oil baron, but if you're just trying to get by or are some dumb kid giving me your allowance please just keep that money and spend it on yourself.

I wish I was one of those cool content creators who has like a really awesome production pipeline and process for smoothly making one great video per month (or week), but my research and writing process is very messy and chaotic. I'm more of a release nothing for two and a half months then post a bunch of stuff at once kind of guy. I may not be consistent in terms of my release schedule but I hope to at least be consistent in terms of the quality of the stuff I do put out.

I really do have a lot of things in the pipeline, I just don't want to hype them up too much or talk about them when they're still gestating and forming as to not give people the wrong idea. Like I am currently going through every episode of all the Sonic shows, but I'm not sure the exact shape and style that video is going to end up as. Anyways, I know I say this every time, and every creator always says it, but I really am incredible grateful that you choose to give me your money. Thank you guys so much for your continued patience and patronage.

Oh wow, I made my own custom $4 tier just now as a new Patreon supporter, and this is the first comment in the channel. I didn't even think about sonic's cock... Why isn't there an official $4 tier? Thanks for reminding me πŸ‘

Anapan

Don't sweat it. Thanks for updating us tho. Transparency was basically all I wanted last time b4 you fell off the face of the earth. Looking forward to whatever you have planned.

"What up Sonic Squad" Wait, this isn't How to Kill your Chao Speedrun Pt. 2

Take your time, as that tends to make projects more quality overall and I'd rather not see you suffer from burnout. Your videos have been very enjoyable, and I think a big part of it is your style of humour, always gets a chuckle out of me. Take your time and we will wait patiently. P.S I would love to see more videos from you on community thigs such as mods and fangames, just an idea tho

I like the vids and I just like you chatting about topics. It's good stuff

Hey, I appreciate how sincere you are in these sorts of things. I give a dollar because you have genuinely been a huge part of my entertainment for the past decade thanks to those sonic LPs, so I've relished the opportunity to give you some money. Besides, for 12 dollars a year I can't really think of anything I personally have gotten more entertainment out of that was free to me. Thanks so much for the content, and even if it takes a while as long as stuff like this gets posted, I'm perfectly willing to wait as long as it takes. That september video rush came out while I was in the hospital, and it truly made that time bearable, so this is my way of proving I mean it when I say thanks.

Nah Cybershell, you'll take my money and like it. My friends and I all love your videos and always get hyped for a new drop. I really really enjoyed the LS Mark debate, it gave me something fun to listen to at work. Keep it up man, and take your time.

I really don't mind your "chaotic" production schedule, it guarantees that every video is quality. I like that you don't do what other creators do or follow trends, you simply do what you want to do and that's admirable and it clearly works

Munkycheez

'ey, long as you're doing alright.

Thank you for giving us this update! it would be really awesome of you to always do this every month, a monthly update on what you’ve been working on and your plans. that would be really awesome of you!

Kiezly

I'm a doctor. Shut up and take my money!

Most of the people who like the Cybershellβ„’ brand like it because of the approaches you've taken that make you, well, you. People largely know about you not because you catered to some etherial YouTube algorithm translated through tea leaves, but because of the word-of-mouth that other Sonic Fans and Let's Players continued to reference over the years. That's not to say that you can't (or haven't) expanded your audience, but if I may be so bold in offering this observation: your strengths lie in continuing to do things the way you've been doing them, and not trying to appease some rapid-fire "gotta post some bullshit everyday" grind. Those people largely have no connection with their audience, and if they stopped posting, they'd be forgotten about in less than 24 hours. You have something that no amount of money can purchase, and that's the ability to connect with your audience. I used to wonder if your persona, wit and talent for entertaining was restricted solely to pre-recorded production work (not that there's anything wrong with that - because I love that stuff and you do it great). But, I've since heard your live exchanges on podcasts and on Twitch, and honestly, I can barely tell the difference. Not many people can do things live, and even fewer of them can do it well. You're a well-rounded, real talent, and I hope you'll go far in this sort of thing. You deserve success in this, and I hope you achieve it. I look forward to seeing/hearing your approaches for other items like DK64, and really any video game or pop culture content. I say all of this because I know what it's like to work on these kinds of projects, and to get bogged down in quality control issues, self-doubt, gauging an audience, worried about running behind schedule, and wondering if I was ever any good at what I did. Just keep doing what you're doing, and don't let the money add pressure to change. I think many of us look at the money as a form of "thanks" for what you've already done, and to support and encourage your continuing efforts.

Dude, I make decent money and donate to you because I want you to continue to make videos. I also think people should be paid to do the things they love. But I also give money to racial and criminal justice reform to help justify giving $5 a month to a guy who makes videos about mecha madness.

shea dewar

Love the content, and I appreciate the update .

Dree

June Guts

Yeah brotha take your time. I’m not a patron because I expect X amount of videos in X amount of time. I’m a patron cause I love your content and I wanna do what little I can to help give you the freedom/support to make content in whatever way best suits you, your life and mental health. Also fwiw I love your off the cuff shit in its own way as much as I love your scripted stuff. Your Twitch streams and the recent thing with LS Mark was great fun. Keep it up my friend

Vince Oliver

Looking forward to it my dude

Cubik
