A Mother's Vow (FTF AP TF)

Lillie adjusted her sun hat as she stood near the entrance of Cerulean Cave, its glowing entrance hinting at Kanto’s many mysteries. Her mother, Lusamine, walked a few steps ahead, her usual elegance softened by an unusual sincerity. This trip to Kanto was supposed to help repair their strained relationship, but even now, Lillie couldn’t shake her unease.

“We won’t stay long,” Lusamine said with a gentle smile. “I just wanted to see if this place is as impressive as everyone says.”

Lillie nodded but stayed quiet. Even though Lusamine was trying to make amends, trust wasn’t something that came back quickly. Their return to Alola brought some sense of normalcy, but Lillie often caught Lusamine watching her with a look that seemed to ask if she was truly forgiven. Lillie focused on her Pokémon training, hoping to grow stronger and more independent.

One day, while Lusamine was away on business at the Aether Foundation, Lillie wandered into her mother’s room. She was hoping to find something useful for her training, maybe an old Pokéball or a forgotten TM. Instead, she found something unusual under the bed—a pink-and-white Pokéball with glowing cyan accents.

“What is this?” Lillie muttered as she held it up. The moment she touched it, a sharp jolt ran through her body. Before she could react, the Pokéball activated, and in a flash of light, she disappeared.

----

Lillie opened her eyes and found herself floating in an endless void. The space around her was empty yet oddly peaceful, as though it existed outside of time. She never felt hungry or tired, but the isolation was unsettling.

As time passed—what felt like years—Lillie began noticing strange changes, each one more unsettling than the last. One day, as she floated in the void, she felt a tingling sensation on her scalp. She gasped as her already long blonde hair began to grow even longer, threading itself into Lusamine’s signature elegant waves.

“No, no, stop!” Lillie shouted, grabbing at the flowing locks as if she could will them back into her usual style. But no matter what she did, the transformation continued, the familiar strands now eerily foreign to her.

Then came the changes to her body. Lillie winced as a pulling sensation stretched through her limbs, her arms and legs elongating, making her taller and more slender. She looked down at herself in horror as her clothes, already snug, began to tear under the strain of her growing frame.

“This can’t be happening,” she whispered, her voice trembling. “I can’t become her!”

But the void didn’t listen. Her chest and hips began to expand next, her body reshaping itself into a mature, womanly figure. The tightness of her outfit gave way to sharp rips, leaving her clutching the remnants of her dress.

“No, I’m still me,” Lillie said desperately, pressing her hands against her chest as if to halt the transformation. “I’m not her! I’m not!”

The worst came when her face began to change. An ache spread across her cheeks and jaw, her bones shifting and reforming beneath the skin. She cried out in pain, her reflection in the void’s surface showing her features softening, refining into Lusamine’s face. Her lips tinged with a natural gloss, and her wide, youthful eyes narrowed into a more mature gaze. She flinched as her voice cracked, each word she spoke dropping in pitch.

“What… is this?” she said, her new voice smooth and low, sending shivers down her spine.

Then came the memories. Flashes of moments she had never lived overwhelmed her—standing in the Aether Foundation’s labs, commanding Ultra Beasts, comforting children who called her “mother.” The images made her stomach turn.

“This isn’t real! These aren’t my memories!” Lillie screamed, clutching her head as if to block them out. But they kept coming, flooding her mind and eroding the edges of her identity.

“No,” Lillie whispered, her voice trembling but growing steadier. She forced herself to focus, clutching onto her memories of her own life—her journey in Alola, her bond with Nebby, her love for her friends and family.

“I’m not going to become her,” she declared, her tone firmer now, her eyes narrowing in defiance. “No matter what happens to my body, I’m still me.”

Though her body and voice now mirrored Lusamine’s, Lillie clung to the truth of who she was. She took a deep breath, grounding herself in the memories of her own identity. "I faced my fears once, and I’ll do it again," she muttered. "I saved Nebby, I helped my friends, and I’ve grown stronger than I ever thought I could be."

Her hands trembled, but she gripped them into fists, forcing herself to speak louder, as though defying the void itself. “I refuse to let this define me. I’m Lillie. I’m not her. I’ll never be her.”

The memories flooding her mind grew louder, threatening to drown her. Lillie clenched her teeth, tears streaming down her face. "I won’t let this take me," she choked out. "I won’t let her mistakes define my future."

A wave of calm resolve washed over her as she wiped her tears, her trembling hands steadying as her mind matured in step with her body. Her voice deepened, resonating with the clarity and composure of adulthood. She straightened her posture, her tone imbued with both strength and sorrow. “I am not Lusamine as she was… but I am Lusamine now. Not her daughter, not her shadow. I am someone better. Someone new. Someone who will make things right.”

Her voice faltered for a moment as emotion swelled within her. "For too long, I lived in fear of becoming like my mom—of embodying her mistakes, her selfishness, her coldness. But I see it now. I have the chance to do more. To be more." She inhaled sharply, the weight of her transformation finally settling into her being.

“I refuse to let her failures dictate who I am," she continued, her tone growing more assured. "I will be a different Lusamine. A better Lusamine. A woman who learns from the past instead of repeating it. I will be the mother I always needed and the mother my… daughter deserves.”

Tears shimmered in her eyes, but they were no longer tears of despair. They were tears of resolve, of acceptance. She gazed into the void, her reflection—a blend of the young Lillie and the mature Lusamine—staring back at her with an intensity that matched her resolve. "Lillie… the Lillie I was… she’s still here," she murmured, her voice trembling yet firm. "She’s a part of me, a foundation I will never let crumble. And I won’t let her be forgotten. This new Lusamine carries her heart, her hope, and her promise to never let those she loves suffer."

Her hands clenched into fists as her emotions surged, her voice rising with unshakable determination. "My name is Lusamine," she declared, each word ringing with conviction as though it could shatter the void around her. "And I refuse to let my mother’s failures define who I am. I will be someone stronger, wiser, and more compassionate. Not a replica of the past, but an architect of a brighter future."

----

A sudden flash of light filled the void, and Lillie found herself back in Lusamine’s bedroom. She gasped for air, her body trembling. The strange Pokéball lay dormant in her hand, its glow gone. She looked down at herself, now fully resembling Lusamine. Her torn dress barely fit her new body.

“Mother?”

Lillie turned to see a younger version of herself standing in the doorway, looking concerned. Without thinking, she pulled the girl into a tight hug. Something deep within her—a newfound maternal instinct—took over, and she whispered, “It’s okay. Everything will be fine.”

As she pieced things together while her younger self—no, “her” daughter Lillie—waited behind closed doors, Lillie realized she was in an alternate reality, one where she had always been Lusamine. In this new world, she held the role of president of the Aether Foundation and was the mother of two children, Lillie and Gladion. However, unlike the Lusamine she had known—whose ambition and obsession often led to coldness and cruelty—this version of Lusamine was a beacon of kindness and warmth. She was respected not only for her leadership but also for her dedication as a mother, a role she here fulfilled with genuine care and love.

Lillie stood in silence, her breath hitching as she looked at the tattered remains of her white dress. Its once-pristine fabric hung in shreds, barely clinging to her newly transformed body. She ran her fingers over the torn edges, her hands trembling. "Goodbye," she whispered, her voice catching. A single tear rolled down her cheek, but she quickly wiped it away. She cast the dress aside with a firm motion, as though discarding the weight of her past along with it. "This is who I was," she murmured, her voice tinged with sorrow. "But not who I will be."

She turned toward the closet, her heart pounding as she opened the doors. Lusamine’s familiar white dresses hung neatly inside, their shimmering fabric catching the soft light. Her fingers hesitated over the closest one, its elegant design seeming both inviting and daunting. "I can do this," she whispered, barely audible. "I have to."

Slowly, she slipped into the dress. It hugged her figure perfectly, as if it had been waiting for her. She caught her reflection in the mirror and froze. The face staring back was Lusamine’s, but it was hers, too—softened by determination and warmth. The sight brought a lump to her throat.

Taking a shaky breath, she moved to the dresser. Lusamine’s makeup lay neatly arranged, a sight she had always associated with her mother’s immaculate appearance. With trembling hands, she picked up a tube of glossy red lipstick. "Just one step at a time," she told herself, her voice steadier now. She applied the lipstick carefully, the bold color accentuating her pale complexion. Next came a touch of eyeshadow and eyeliner, her hands growing steadier with each stroke. As she worked, her reflection became more complete, more composed—a true blend of who she was and who she was becoming.

Finally, she straightened and stared at the woman in the mirror. "This isn’t just for me," she said aloud, her voice carrying a newfound strength. "It’s for them. For everyone who depends on me." She reached out, her fingertips grazing the cool glass as if to affirm her connection to the person she was choosing to become.

Her thoughts were interrupted by a soft voice. "Mother?" Lillie turned quickly, startled. Standing in the doorway was the younger version of herself from this alternate reality. The girl’s wide eyes were filled with concern.

Lillie—no, Lusamine now—felt an unexpected wave of emotion surge through her. She dropped to her knees and opened her arms. "Come here," she said gently. The young girl hesitated for only a moment before running into her embrace. "It’s okay," Lusamine whispered, stroking her daughter’s hair. "Everything will be fine. I promise."

The child pulled back slightly, her expression softening. "Are you sure?"

Lusamine smiled warmly, brushing a stray lock of hair from the girl’s face. "I’m sure," she said, her voice steady yet tender. "Let’s go make some breakfast."

Hand in hand, they made their way to the kitchen. As Lusamine prepared a simple meal, her daughter chatted happily, her earlier worry forgotten. Lillie—now fully embracing her role as Lusamine—found herself smiling, her movements natural and assured.

As they sat together at the table, the laughter and warmth of the moment filled the room. Lillie gazed at her daughter’s trusting face and felt a surge of determination. "This is my chance," she thought. "To make things right, to be better. For her. For them. And for myself."
