Wendy's Transformation: Erza Scarlet

The sun was setting on Magnolia, casting a warm orange glow over the Fairy Tail guild hall. Wendy Marvell sat quietly at her usual spot, her chin resting on her hand as she stared out the window. Her friends were all off on quests: Natsu, Lucy, Gray, and even her feline companion Carla had left town for a particularly high-paying job. The quiet felt unfamiliar, and she found herself wondering what it would be like to walk in someone else’s shoes for a day.

Specifically, she thought about Erza Scarlet.

Wendy admired Erza more than anyone in the guild. Erza was strong, beautiful, and always carried herself with an air of confidence that Wendy couldn’t help but envy. Though Wendy’s own magic and abilities were formidable, she sometimes felt dwarfed by Erza’s imposing presence and unmatched skills. What would it feel like to be someone like Erza, even for a moment?

Her curiosity grew into an idea, and the idea became a plan. The closed-off section of the guild’s library held many forbidden spellbooks, and Wendy, ever the bookworm, had "borrowed" a few for light reading. One spell in particular caught her eye: a ritual designed to allow the caster to "experience another’s life." It seemed harmless enough, though the cryptic warnings about "interwoven fates" were unsettling. Nevertheless, her curiosity outweighed her caution.

That night, Wendy prepared the spell in the privacy of her room. She lit candles and traced runes on the floor, her heart racing with a mix of excitement and trepidation. Reciting the incantation, she felt a surge of magic course through her, but nothing else seemed to happen. Disappointed, she cleaned up and went to bed, unaware of the changes already beginning to take root.

The next morning, Wendy awoke feeling… different. Her bed seemed slightly smaller, and when she stood, she realized she was a bit taller than before. Dismissing it as a growth spurt, she went about her day. But as she arrived at the guild hall, something strange happened: everyone greeted her as "Erza."

"Good morning, Erza!" Mira called cheerfully from behind the bar.

"Nice to see you taking it easy for once," Cana teased with a smirk.

Wendy’s confusion grew with each interaction. Even Master Makarov addressed her as Erza, and no one seemed to notice anything amiss. She tried to correct them, but the words caught in her throat. When she glanced at her reflection in a window, she saw herself… but something was different. Her posture was straighter, her demeanor more poised, and her features—though still hers—seemed subtly older.

Returning home that evening, she decided to investigate further. Standing before her mirror, Wendy undressed to examine herself. Her heart raced as she stared at her reflection, her breath catching in her throat. She gasped audibly upon noticing the changes: her frame had begun to fill out, her once-petite body showing the early signs of curves that hadn’t been there before.

"This can’t be real," she whispered, running her trembling fingers over her sides. Her hair, normally a deep blue, now had faint streaks of purple shimmering under the light. "The spell... it’s actually working." She hugged herself, a mix of awe and fear swirling in her chest. "But why like this?"

Over the next several days, the transformation accelerated at an alarming pace. Each morning, Wendy woke to a slightly different body. By the second day, her limbs had lengthened with graceful elegance, and her chest had started to swell, pushing against the fabric of her clothes. "I’m... taller," she murmured, gazing at her elongated legs in the mirror. Her voice wavered as she touched her hips, which had taken on a faint, mature curve. "This is... me?"

On the third day, Wendy stared in awe as her hair transitioned to a vibrant red, its hue rich and fiery. It fell in thick waves down her back, an unmistakable trademark of Erza Scarlet. Her voice had dropped to a smooth contralto, startling her as she practiced speaking in her room.

"Good morning, everyone," she rehearsed in the mirror, her reflection now almost unrecognizable. The youthful, wide-eyed gaze she once had was gone, replaced with piercing, mature intensity.

Each discovery was both thrilling and terrifying. She felt as though she was losing pieces of herself with every change. "Is this what I wanted?" she thought, pressing her hands against her face. "What if I can’t go back?"

But the changes weren’t merely physical. Wendy’s connection to her Sky Dragon Slayer magic grew tenuous. Attempting to summon a gust of wind on the fourth day, she strained, her arms outstretched—but nothing happened. A sinking feeling overwhelmed her. Desperate to feel her magic again, she instinctively called upon something else. In a flash of light, a suit of armor identical to Erza’s appeared on her body. Her mouth fell open in shock.

"Requip magic...?" she whispered, running her fingers over the armor’s polished surface. It felt natural, as though it had always been a part of her. Yet she knew it hadn’t. Or had it? "How do I know this?" Her mind swirled with confusion as she fell to her knees.

The more Wendy transformed, the more her thoughts began to shift. At first, it was subtle. She caught herself tidying her room with military-like precision, a newfound love for order taking over. She stood taller, spoke with a more commanding tone when she addressed others at the guild. "This isn’t me," she thought, gripping her head.

By the sixth day, her memories began to blur. She saw flashes of battles she’d never fought, faces she’d never met. Conversations echoed in her mind, ones that couldn’t possibly have happened to her. Yet, they felt real. When she closed her eyes, she felt the weight of Erza’s emotions—her joys, her sorrows, her responsibilities. They terrified Wendy, yet they also felt... comforting.

"I’m... becoming her," she whispered one evening, staring at her reflection. Her gaze was no longer frightened—it was steeled with determination. "If this is my fate, then I’ll carry it proudly."

Meanwhile, far from Magnolia, Erza Scarlet was undergoing a transformation of her own. As the days passed, subtle changes began to take hold, though she remained blissfully unaware of their significance. Her commanding presence gradually diminished, her once-towering frame shrinking as her muscles softened. Her fiery red hair lightened day by day, fading to a familiar shade of blue. When she tried to summon her armor, the process felt oddly foreign. Instead, she began channeling Sky Dragon Slayer magic with ease, as though it had always been second nature.

"Huh, that’s strange," Erza murmured after conjuring a gale of wind to cool herself off. She tilted her head in confusion but smiled warmly. "Maybe I’ve been practicing this all along."

Her personality shifted in parallel. The stoic, disciplined warrior gave way to a cheerful, wide-eyed girl with a carefree giggle that now punctuated her sentences. She began to hum tunes she had never sung before, her voice soft and light. Her usual commanding tone softened when addressing others, and her authoritative strides turned into a playful skip.

"Why does everyone seem so tall lately?" she asked innocently, her shrinking frame going unnoticed by herself. When Gray handed her a cup of juice instead of wine one evening, Erza didn’t even bat an eye. She giggled and sipped happily. "Thank you, Gray! Juice is much tastier anyway."

As the days passed, fragments of Erza’s memories seemed to dissolve, replaced by Wendy’s cheerful recollections. She would recall moments from battles she’d supposedly fought but now with the perspective of an awestruck observer rather than a participant. "Natsu is so strong," she remarked one evening, her voice brimming with admiration. "I hope I can be as brave as him someday!"

Her appearance continued to shift subtly but steadily. By the time she, Natsu, Lucy, Gray and Carla returned to the guild, Erza had fully transformed into a bubbly, blue-haired 14-year-old who radiated youthful energy. Completely unaware of the change, she greeted her fellow guildmates with a bright smile and a wave. "Everyone, we're back!" she chirped, bouncing on her toes with excitement.

No one, not even Erza herself, seemed to notice that she had once been the stoic, commanding knight of Fairy Tail. To her, she was Wendy Marvell, a cheerful and eager young mage—just as things had always been, or so she believed.

Wendy on the other hand, now fully transformed into Erza, had since embraced her new identity. She moved into Erza’s room in Fairy Hills, leaving her old belongings behind as she became comfortable with her new living quarters. The spell had done more than swap appearances; it had rewritten reality itself. To the guild, Wendy had always been "Erza Scarlet," and Erza had always been "Wendy Marvell."

When the two finally crossed paths in the guild hall, the interactions between the two were as normal as anyone guess. "Erza" greeted "Wendy" warmly, her voice carrying the authority and confidence she had come to embody. "Wendy," her cheerful grin brightening the room, responded enthusiastically.

"Erza," she began, her voice light and melodic, "it's been so lively here! The guild has been such an adventure, especially with Natsu, Lucy, and Gray around!"

"Oh?" "Erza" tilted her head with a curious smile. "Do tell me about these adventures. What kind of fights do you all end up in?"

"Wendy" giggled, her energy almost contagious. "Oh, you wouldn't believe it! Just the other week, Natsu picked a fight with this enormous fire-breathing salamander because he thought it was challenging him for the title of 'ultimate fire user.' And Lucy—she tried using one of her celestial spirits to calm him down, but instead, we all ended up dodging a rampaging bull spirit in the middle of a market square!"

"Erza" chuckled softly, folding her arms as she listened intently. "Sounds like they keep you on your toes. And Gray? What role did he play in this chaos?"

"Gray?" "Wendy" pretended to think for a moment, tapping her chin. "Well, he started out trying to help, but then Natsu made some snarky comment, and they ended up fighting each other instead of the salamander! Carla and I had to step in to break it up." She laughed at the memory, her joy so genuine it was impossible not to smile along with her.

"You handle them well," "Erza" remarked, her tone warm with a hint of admiration. "It sounds like you've found a way to make even the wildest moments feel like home."

"Wendy" nodded, her grin never faltering. "Of course! That's what makes Fairy Tail so special, right? No matter what happens, we’re a family."

As "Erza Scarlet" took on a new request from the board, she glanced back at the guild one last time. She felt a pang of nostalgia for her old life but quickly pushed it aside. She was Erza now, and she had a duty to uphold.

Walking out the door, she couldn’t help but smile. After all, this was exactly what she had wished for.
