The Exorcist (1973) - Full Length Reaction

Hey Everyone!

I never imagined I would actually sit down and watch the Exorcist from 1973. Needless to say it was terrifying! When the mother of a 12-year-old girl realizes something isn’t quite right, she seeks help from many different health professionals and finally ends up getting help from a young local priest.  I felt I was on an emotional roller coaster the entire movie. I think this is because the characters are so well developed as likable characters prior to the horror aspects taking place. The most shocking scene for me is when Reagan projectile vomits onto Father Karas. The vomit hits him directly in the face shocking him and the audience. I think this horror film can be considered timeless, as it still holds up in 2022.

This is my favorite movie. It has been for nearly 30 years. I have seen it so many times. I don't consider it a scary movie. I do consider it a disturbing movie though. The scene with Reagan and the crucifix (the mother's last straw before accepting that doctors might not be her solution and she meets with Father Karras) is so wild that I can only imagine how people felt in 1973. The thing is I don't exactly have to imagine as there are several youtube videos of news reporters interviewing audience members in 1973 just after they saw the movie.
