The direct use of force is such a poor solution to any problem. Kira has demonstrated and they still don't have a clue. If I was their commanding officer and saw superior forces or living forms. Their first two encounters with them would be more than enough to start negotiating. Make time for a withdrawal or steer them clear from the base and show no threat. Perhaps I would have convinced her of peaceful negotiations with world leadership or let her demonstrate her power to the world. Kira isn't bad but hurt.
