State of the Dungeon: May 2023

Greetings All!

First off, apologies to your inbox for the last two days. There was a lot going on behind the scenes, so I’m happy to be caught up on current items. That said, it’s been a while since a ‘State of the Dungeon’ has universally gone out, so let's get right underway.

New Team Member: Alex (Nips!)

As some of you on the Discord know, Nips has been my editor since the beginning of Dungeon Scribe. Patiently tweaking and reviewing my abuses of the English language and carefully structuring them into something understandable. Now he has officially taken on some duties with the Patreon and Indesign aspects.

This includes taking established templates and getting you all squared away with a backlog of much needed updates. It’s become a lot to keep up with creation, socials, and managing. So, I am eternally grateful for him loaning the time.

Updated M.O.R.E:

As some of you remember, the M.O.R.E. was created as a quick reference guide for locating files and items. Once it hit just under 200 items, it became rather bloated and took an eternity to load on my end to make adjustments.

This has been resolved, and hopefully been made even more accessible by switching to a living Google Sheet that allows quick scrolling and search features with full links to Patreon Posts.

Since this is a living document, you are seeing it three weeks into creation. We are still getting all of the links placed and updated, with a score of future changes on the horizon. This will be updated constantly until it reaches the desired vision and then monthly from that point forward.

Including:

As of this update we are at 257/470 current links inputted.

Card Batches:

These I miss. They are the easiest way to get you everything in a month without the hassle of downloading each and every post. The problem with the original format was that this also meant that scrubbers and pirates also loved them.

Due to this, I ceased uploading them and shifted efforts away from Batch Collections. After consulting with other creators, I think we finally have a workable solution that shouldn’t cause too much additional effort on our end.

We shall be transitioning Hosting to PCloud, with a Monthly Password sent to you directly at the beginning of the month. This ensures you’ll be able to grab them easily at any time, and we’ll be able to update files directly without diving into the Patreon post. This affects the next two subjects for the update as well!

Printable Card Layout: Two-Sided Cards.

Using the templates from the Kickstarter, these will also be uploaded in the monthly collections on PCloud. These will have both the Smaller/Bigger card options for you to decide what works best at your table. This is one of my most exciting updates, and ties into the below as well.

Attached is an example of the Kickstarter Edition that will be converted, not the current product.

Collected Compendium:

This has been needed for ages, and again just fighting for the time. Using the template I established for the Kickstarter as a base, Nips will be assembling the first 250 items into a single compendium and then we will be getting underway on a 2nd. This will be included in the PCloud monthly update, as able.

Like the Two-Sided cards, we will be attempting to update a steady stream of the backlog into these uploads as well!

Foundry Content:

Yet another update by way of the Kickstarter, the Foundry package (250 Items) will be available after it is finalized for backers. We are debating which tier will offer this directly.

These will be getting updated with the already edited Deck 6, but it’s too early to even grasp at a delivery date for that as an expansion of the currently available.

Pledge Tier Changes: Big News!

Next month there will be a restructuring of Patreon Tiers to the Following!

$4 Blessed> $8 Smiters> $12 Greats> $20 Criticals> $100 Ultimate Percentiles

What does this mean for you at the current tiers?

Nothing, your current tiers aren’t going away. They’re just being unpublished so that they are not available to new Patrons (much like the original Nat 1 Tier). So as long as you remain a Patron, you are just getting access to more for the current pricing. This is all setting up to expand and update, setting the framework for the next steps.

This decision is to cover the extra workload and cost of adding the additional features listed above, without affecting those who have been here with us this whole time.Very excited about these changes. I can’t wait for these next phases and having an extra hand onboard.

Thank you. I truly wouldn’t be able to do any of this without your continued support.

Be Safe, and Keep Playing!
