Novice Spellswords Blade: One-Sided.

Greetings All!

This was a fun one, and a difficult one.

Balanced around the ‘Wand of Magic Missile’ of the same level and attunement, it drops 3 charges and becomes a weapon and spell focus. This seemed to be the best way to get around the growth potential of being able to whack someone with the item easier than a wand.

Originally , I wanted to add a universal +1 Force damage to its attacks, but I worried it might tip the balance. So instead, in a combination of Divine Favor and Smite, I settled on a 1d4 on Hit activation at the cost of a charge. Not overly powerful, but on a resource cost it takes more planning for the player.

Thoughts VERY welcome especially on the force concept, this is meant as a blend of items after all. Do you think it sneaks by as unattuned?

Description:

There has always been an air of mystery around Spellswords. Even just the name carries a hint of power. These fabled Magical Swordsmen have long since dazzled the populous by having a foot in both the arcane and martial paths. These blades were carried by initiates of the orders that formed over the centuries for this unique type of warrior. Although limited in number, there was an attempt to try and give those fables a home, even if just for a time.

Tabs:

• While held, this sword is considered an Arcane Focus.
• This sword holds 4 charges and regains 1d4 expended charges daily at Dawn. These charges can be expended in the following ways.
• Arcane Missile: 1 Charge - As an Action, the user casts the Magic Missile spell from it.
  • The user can increase the spell slot level by one for each additional charge they expend.
• Arcane Burst: 1 Charge: On Hit with a Melee Attack from this sword, the user is able to expend a charge and deal an additional 1d4 Force damage.
