Diviner's Den 25x24

A stone dais rises from the center of this room, the circular walls lined with rows of books, strange workstations, cabinets of arcane tools and chalkboards filled with sketched arithmetic and runic symbols as if the author's calculus borders on the profane. The floor is lined with gold or brass in a seven-pointed star, each pointing toward a stone archway. A study, a laboratory, a wizard's sanctum, it is all that and more. And yet the objects on the dais itself bear one unmistakable theme. A scrying pool, a crystal ball, a table laid out with fortune cards, and a seeing mirror - this place can only belong to one who is obsessed with knowledge, peeking into past, present, and future. But to what end?

I made this map for my personal use in my Rise of the Runelords game, but I thought it might be of interest to you all too. In my game, the players are on the verge of collecting a symbol of sin from each of the 7 wings in a dungeon called the Runeforge, and have been collecting hints throughout the campaign that theorize the existence of an 8th rune of power, from the underestimated magic school of Divination. Little does most of the world know that in fact there was a Runelord of Divination, a powerful mage that used her skills not only to spy on the works of her brethren, but to occlude even the merest trace of her own existence. Hiding here in a demiplane within a demiplane, she foresaw the ruin that would come to her civilization and the other 7 runelords' preparations to survive and emerge to conquer the new world. For various Pathfinder lore reasons, her plan did not work out as she'd foreseen (a common trait among the Runelords, it would seem), and she was forced to alter her plans.

Now, the mantle has been taken by a powerful wizard adventurer who seeks only to keep this dangerous throne hidden and unused at any cost. But its true master returns in the form of her reincarnated self, an adventuring arcanist that does not even realize his treacherous heritage, or that he may soon spirit his former, sinful self's soul back to the seat of her power.

Part boss-fight room, and partly a vehicle for me to send my pc's through the maze of time, to visit a future where they no longer exist, and witness what comes to pass should they fail in their quest. (Evil wizard dominates a continent, it's bad.)

Anyway, rant over.
