I went to go see how post recording for an ero anime was done!

The other day, I went to go see the recording process for “Reika is my splendid queen.” This was my first time ever seeing how an anime production works, and I can’t say I had any idea of what the recording process involved. I didn’t even know who was going to show up, either. The environment played some part, sure, but none of it really felt real even upon arriving at the studio . . . Or after, for that matter. It felt like I wasn't really present there at that moment in time. Lines in eromanga are frankly like a sort of drunken poem. And being in this sort of environment, where others pour their heart into every delivery, while others are listening to it intently, well it made my whole body squirm at first. The recording took place over two days, over the weekend. And the first day was wrapped up without me really knowing what was going on. I went back home and mulled over the experience for quite a bit. I thought how everyone was being professional about it all and giving it their best, so how much longer am I going to be embarrassed about it . . ? Right? Anyways, onto the part you are all excited for! I was told I can talk as much as I want about the fact that the anime production is currently underway. However, I can't disclose any staff or voice actor names until an official announcement is made. As far as casting is concerned, the main three characters, Reika, Reiji and Hasumi, we left that to the animation production side to decide. One of the reasons was because we were genuinely curious to see what the anime producers thought and felt about this series. And also, because we didn't want to narrow down casting choices by providing more feedback than necessary from our side of things. And as a result, we were able to have them bring in the best 3 possible people for the job! Personally, I think that was a good decision on my part! I will admit, my initial thoughts on Reika was that perhaps she came across a little "too cute," however, her actress is very talented, so I had nothing to worry about at all in the end. During recording, I was approached by one of the higher ups at the production company, and was told how it was "unusual for an ero anime to have such a focus on the male character." After being told this, I guess I once again became aware of Reiji's presence in the story. I think it's clear that this work probably contains my desire to "tease a cute boy like Reiji," and that is exactly what I was aiming for as the author. Honestly, this series is very well received. Since most other works tend to be rather similar in the end, I feel like being "unusual" is its strong point. You can enjoy this even if you're a lady. The actor for Reiji is also very good, lacking the bland stiffness of males in erotic works, and is instead very natural. The only one that felt like a miscalculation was Hasumi. Nah! She's just as cute! lol It's just a shame that she has a comparatively minor role. Just, there's no way she's a former introvert anymore. And I bet I'll get complaints like, "well there's hardly any sex with Hasumi in the first place!" And with all that said, it was a very fun weekend! I'd love to go again! So far, "Reika is my splendid queen" is set to have 4 episodes, so 4 volumes of the anime will be released. And if the sales are good, then they'll produce the last 4 episodes. And if that happens, I'll get to go and meet everyone once again! So I can't help but have high hopes! We all hope they're able to adapt all the way to the wedding . . . right? Volumes 1 and 2 will be released this fall. And then 3 and 4 will be released sometime next spring. Please wait for any further information! No, but what really surprised me the most was when the actress told me that she loved the Cagalli/Athrun book! I never expected her to bring it up there! And actually, even before that, one of the higher ups at the production company asked me why I made the Cagalli/Athrun book. Gundam sure is big! Although I guess this IS the animation world after all. And my wife, who was sitting next to me at the event, had this really proud look on her face after hearing that. "SEE? I told you! There are lots of ladies out there who've long been waiting for Athrun's Justice!" (A euphemism) It was a very humbling experience! I was even told "We're looking forward to the sequel!" so I guess I have no choice but keep drawing, huh?
