Just thought this might be fun!
What are some rituals you guys want to see Alex create or learn? Most things have been focused on utility, and as we get further into runes, they shift more into the elements.
We can do this again once he creates Spell Circles soon. But for now, let's see what you guys want to see him learn or modify to create rituals!
Nothing is off the table for suggestions or ideas, but I hope you realize suggestions like "Infinite Black Hole of Mana Generation" is not going to be something that I give him...

Writing Update
Nothing huge to update this week, other than I got a TON of writing done last week, which felt great. My good friend and beta reader helped me set up an awesome spreadsheet/dashboard to track my writing going into the new year! I'll post last week's stats (since Jan 1) below.

Mana concentration ritual - something for creating training environments maybe speeding up training. Could improved into something like a monster summoning ritual using a mana core from a slain monster. Could be hugely useful for awakening people if he could summon a slime in a controlled environment. The opposite of the ritual might be used to disperse mana to protect from mana based monsters if things like wraiths or ghosts show up in a Rift. Something to create water would be a useful in long term rifts or if he gets trapped somewhere and needs to survive. Filtering ritual - separate or attract a specific item or element. Tons of potential uses based on imagination and how powerful you allow it to be. Pull salt out of sea water, minerals out of the ground, oxygen out of the air

I’m guessing that people don’t have extensive wards or anything yet, I know we’re due to get into runes at some point, so maybe some kind of manually activated security rituals. I’m picturing the scene in avengers endgame where Tony locks down the building. My thinking is, especially after reading berserker, tensions with the government are likely to escalate at some point and locked doors and privacy fences won’t do much to stop regular military much less awakened ones

Password designation? Opposite Ritual: Seduction / Beguiling / Trap Create an area to draw a particular item (or more) into the ritual with the purpose of ensnaring it to prevent it from leaving

The longer you stand in the circle, the greater the buildup of static electricity on you is, and when you step out of the circle you get shocked with a corresponding intensity. It may seem like a simple no-brainer at first to immediately leave the circle if you realise you're in it, but in the heat of battle you might want to stay in longer and risk a greater shock if stepping out right away will leave you open to another strike.

2025-01-07 00:16:04 +0000 UTCI think a light ritual would be interesting; something intended to collect or amplify light in an area could also have an interesting inverse effect that disperses / suppresses light in the same area. It would fit the theme of turning a utility spell into a combat spell that he has going on.

2025-01-07 00:11:30 +0000 UTCHow about a two part ritual of sonic displacement that allows you to take all sound generated from one area with the first part of the ritual and have it emanate from where the second, corresponding ritual is placed. Basically a distraction/confusion spell (magic rock throw that distracts the guards type thing) that can also conveniently be repurposed into an eavesdropping or one way communication spell that won't alert someone near the first ritual if they are outside its area of affect. The catalysts should be a seashell in each circle and a piece of string long enough to cover the distance between the two circles, but not exceed the boundary of the effect area on either side. Basically a way to limit the distance the ritual can be used over; if you want to place the circles far apart you have to eyeball calculate the length of string needed and cut it appropriately, so it will take practice to get it right and be harder the further apart you want to place the circles. Side note: it would be hilarious if he tried to use it to eavesdrop on a conversion in an empty warehouse or an open quarry or something, only to get discovered immediately when he activates it because the people he's spying on stop hearing the echo from their own voices and their brains screech to a halt like a record stopping because the change is so jarring.

2025-01-06 19:59:29 +0000 UTC1) A companion ritual: Something that would allow Alex to allow Mark, Sam and others to bring their pet into the system before making then a companion. 2) Aura Detection: able to determine a person's aura. This would probably be tied to a security system. But since we haven't learned of how anyone can fake that, it would enable better security. 3) Plant Mana Funnel: a ritual to funnel Mana to seeds and small plants. So we can see some alchemy. 4) inorganic Mana absorption: a ritual to allow you to bombard more Mana into metals or inorganic substances for better enchanting materials.

Or maybe Ritual Insight upgrades to Runic Insight or he gains a new skill of Runic Insight by studying or ingesting the enchanting manual. Also, what happens when Alex reaches the level where he can change classes?
