先月はご支援頂きありがとうございました。

今年もよろしくお願いします。

今年の日本は元日から重大事件が頻発しておりますが、

みなさまお正月は満喫できましたでしょうか？

私は元日からレイカさんの仕事絵を製作中です。

あぁ年が変わった気がしない・・・

今年の抱負？そんなことよりまずは目下の締切をなんとかしないと。

製作中のカラー絵は単行本表紙と、メガストアの表紙と、販促イベントの告知絵(?)。

新年そうそうこいつぁ重いっ…！

ただでさえカラー絵苦手なのに商業表紙レベルが3枚だと仕上げで発狂する。

カラー絵は無限に手を加えられるので、「完成する」というのは「どこかで手をぬく＝諦める」という意味に等しいのです。

でも単行本の表紙ってどうしても精神的脅迫観念に狩られてしまうので、やめ時が見えなくなりがち。

どこまでもガチャガチャいじくったあげく、なんか最初とイメージが違くなるというオチになりがち。

表紙に関しては一般向けの方が楽です。

さて、レイカ2の単行本発行が4月末頃に決まり、販促イベントやらアイテムやらの企画が判明しつつあるんですが、その一つになんと！

サイン会が。

来た〜作家的に誘われた事実は嬉しいけど現実的には躊躇するイベント第1位のサイン会www

この出版不況なご時世になんとアナログな。

二つ返事でOK！と言えるほど自信もなけりゃ陽キャでもないので結構迷う。

まぁコミケで顔は出してるし、最初で最後になる可能性も十分あるから、企画してもらえてる以上やる意外の選択肢は無さそうだけど。

アナログ絵は描けるけど衆人環視の中で作業か・・・うっ、やはり迷う。

This year in Japan, there have been a number of serious incidents since New Year's Day,Did everyone have a happy New Year's?

I have been working since New Year's Day.

Because I have to finish my work while the editors are taking a break.

Oh, it doesn't feel like the year has changed...

You want me to tell you what my resolutions are for this year?

Wait a minute. First of all, I have to take care of the task at hand.

The color illustrations I am currently working on are the cover of a book, the cover of a megastore, and an announcement for a promotional event.

What a heavy load!

I am not good at drawing color illustrations, so I almost go crazy when I finish three such heavy illustrations in a row.

Color illustrations can have an infinite number of elements added to them, so you have to give up somewhere in order to complete them.

But when this illustration is the cover of a book, the artist is inevitably hunted by mental blackmail because its perfection determines the sales of the work.

That is why they cannot give up.

We keep adding corrections to the illustration.

As we do so, the concept of the work tends to gradually drift away from the image we first envisioned.

As for the cover, it is easier to produce a work for the general public.

Now, with the release of the Reika2 book set for the end of April, promotional events and commemorative items are being planned, and one of them is, surprise!

A signing event.

As an author, I am happy to be invited to a book signing, but in reality, it is the number one event that I hesitate to attend.

I was surprised that this event still exists even in these depressed times of publishing.

I'm not so confident or optimistic that I can say yes without hesitation, so I'm not sure if I should accept this invitation.

However, I am attending Comiket, and this may be my first and last autograph session, so I guess I should accept.

However, I'm going to draw pictures in front of the public... Ugh, the thought of it makes me want to run away.
