Discussion around the new IOS update with Apple
Added 2024-08-13 00:00:44 +0000 UTCHi!
So, I woke up this morning to a number of pings on discord along with Patreon flashing up an update regarding the IOS terms of service for anyone using apple with Patreon.
For transperancy I will inform people that I am going to be increasing the cost for Apple users to abosorb the cost.
That being said the easy work around if you can is to log in through a different method. this is touted to not impact anyone that is already a sub.
I thought it prudent to inform any Apple users that might be looking to sub with others, or those that will unsub, and then resub in future!
I have no idea how this will impact much of my Patreon base of supporters but wanted to address the topic!

2024-08-18 11:12:12 +0000 UTCNo it does not, but it is worth knowing about if you are an Apple User as any new subsriptions will have it tacked on. That's probably the most important part of people using Apple.

2024-08-13 11:56:49 +0000 UTCOh I agree entirely. Epic was definitely doing it so they could make more money and not because it would effect their customers, however if it still helped the customers in the end I'd not complain overly much.

2024-08-13 01:37:22 +0000 UTCEh, they both suck, to be honest. Apple's probably worse these days, but Epic's no saint either. If you don't care for Apple just give the EU some time with the DMA; Apple seems to be doing their absolute best to be as annoying and intransigent as they can be.

2024-08-13 00:49:19 +0000 UTCGood PSA! I'm shocked, though, that Patreon has avoided this fee until now considering how dogged Apple's been with getting what (they believe) is their rightful fraction of in-app purchase revenue. Part of me thinks that Patreon may have been absorbing the hit thus far and is now trying to pressure Apple to get a 15% contract like other major companies and apps have (e.g. Netflix).

2024-08-13 00:24:45 +0000 UTCReally makes me wish Epic Games won their lawsuit against Apple. For clarity I use desktop but this just rubs me the wrong way

2024-08-13 00:18:59 +0000 UTCSo it doesn’t impact people already subscribed to you? Is that right?
