Medieval art of negotiation

"Listen, 'my lady,' lately we've been taking into consideration a series of obvious things, in which, strangely enough, we hadn't realized until now... It turns out that for each of you, the nobles, there are approximately dozens of us, the commoners; We work ourselves to death while you form an extractive elite that produces nothing at all and exploits our labor; All the effort we waste on maintaining you and your nonsense could be invested in useful things for all of us, such as schools for our children... Last week, just before you order your guards to set upon us, I tried to diplomatically explain this to you and attempt to reach an agreement that would gradually balance the scales... But I believe that now, after a triumphant peasant uprising, and with you trapped in this marvel of wood and steel, I can afford to impose all the conditions that I want... Now laugh if you agree..."

I believe it would be better to prolong the negotiations as much as possible to ensure that all parties are in agreement and leave no room for the slightest doubt. 🤭

Pretty rough stuff here. Seems to me that negotiations should go along pretty smoothly; if they don’t, replacing that lantern with a small pan of glowing coals should make every concession a HOT topic.
