Monster Hunter Wilds | Update 12

Remaining time to finish: 10-11 work days or so
Estimated Length: ~39:00 - 40:00

I am really proud of this project, genuinely.

Hi guys, I decided that I was going to measure exactly how many more days it was going to take to finish the project. Mind you, these are WORK days (not counting days off). This is also assuming nothing is going wrong during my work days. So, approximately, two weeks.

I am wrapping up the content for the last of the areas. The above clip is an example of me talking about the Oilwell basin area, and includes some fun stuff like the usage of cutscenes, which is not typical for the rest of the video. I decided to keep these, and would like to see if I can't get the intro to be long enough to make the video 40 minutes. Likely can't, but the 40 minute mark feels like it's much bigger than the 39 minute mark, if that makes sense. After I finish the remaining areas (Iceshard cliffs, Wyveria) I will be able to finish my sponsor segment, finish my remaining work on the first part of the video (Which, I have learned from last project, I should save for last!), and then I can do the intro, credits, and finish this thing.

One detail that I am very proud of is that I forced myself to work on various parts of the project at different times at different stages in development, so there is no "Worse" or "better" edited section. It all feels completely coherent.

This has become a huge project in a very short time. 40 minutes within 4 months is good time, usually I take 3 months to get around 28.

However, I will first be going to Offkai Expo tomorrow. If you see me there, say hello. I decided that I had been getting very beaten up and neurotic regarding this project and I just needed a moment to go and see my friends for like... 2 days.

I also decided that I had been announcing in too fine granular detail every minor delay, because I was afraid people would be mad at me for being lazy. However, I've come to realize recently that this isn't necessarily the best approach. I'll offer you guys as much transparency and explanation as possible, but I'd hate to give you guys a bad impression like I was being lazy when I was actually working very hard.

I have a twitter post explaining my reasoning and how I feel about it if you want to read it. It's very long: https://x.com/realMax0r/status/1934767336512475492

Thank you all for your support, I'll be working at maximum, uninterrupted speed to get this video done ASAP as soon as I am back, and will try to spend the days after finishing my video to perform technical research on the next project and make it perfect.

I absolutely agree with Akiera. I may not know you irl, but hearing about how hard this and the last couple projects have affected you has even got me feeling worried for you. Absolutely take all the time you need to not burn yourself out. Have some fun, enjoy the Expo. We're all still going to be here if it takes a little extra time. Loving the work so far, and I'm stoked to see it finished!

The way you write your updates makes it seem like your subscribers threaten your life if you take time off lol Your work is great and has a ton of rewatchability. Take your time, don't burn yourself out, and go at your own pace. Anybody who looks at your videos for more than a couple seconds can see the effort you put in. Glad you're taking some time to go to the expo! May you encounter nothing but people who are freshly bathed, groomed, and wearing deodorant!

Have fun at Offkai Expo!

I'm absolutely impressed it's still coming out great despite the games overall performance and reviews on PC. Can't wait to watch the director video on this.
