Komadori Weekly #1

Komadori Weekly is our new series of short, weekly posts where we’ll keep you updated on the game’s progress. This way, we can avoid long periods of silence (like now) and keep you in the loop—without spoilers, but with plenty of behind-the-scenes insights!

This post was inspired by a question from one of our Patrons, Denivleur, on our Discord. He simply asked about the progress on the new update. I have to admit, community management is the hardest part of gamedev for me—I always struggle with writing posts. But I’ll do my best to publish at least a short update every week, just to let you know we’re alive and making progress.

Now, to actually answer the question—the big update has become even bigger. We felt the story was progressing too slowly, so to speed things up, several key events now need to happen back-to-back. It’s like we’re not making one update, but three at the same time. 😵‍💫 This means a lot of extra writing and additional gameplay maps. We’re almost there—I really think everything will be ready this week.

I originally planned to post the full animation this week, but after thinking it over, I’ve decided it’s better to release scene animations after the update they belong to is out.

That being said, I’m just finishing up implementing this scene in the game. There are only a few more dialogues to set up, and then Mugenji can tie everything together into a full quest.

Meanwhile, he’s continuing work on the room-cleaning minigame. There’s a lot happening there, and we hope you’ll enjoy this third type of job!

Yeah, community/social media management is something I struggle the most with. But since Patreon is our main source of funding, it's needed. I think that keeping up with posting something short once a week will be easier for me, rather than composing long posts once in a while. Especially since I feel guilty when there's long time without any info from us 😖 As for the demo, I don't know... On one hand the current gamplay is better, but on the other the nights are locked and that one extra time slot is useful in the demo. Also, we want to participate in the Steam Next Fest that drives a lot of people to play the demo. It's starts this month and we're afraid we might brake something and not have enough time to fix it before the event starts, while the 0.4.0 version is thoroughly tested and stable. So a hard decision to make...

So long as it doesn’t wind up causing burnout (and works with what’s there), it’ll do. Any plans to update what the demo goes over, since one of the shifts got changed?
