I've been busy drawing this month and today I have a collection of several hi-res drawings to share with you! All of these were done in preparation for this year's Illuxcon where I plan to display the originals for sale. The images are explorations for the next iteration of the Dungeon Master Series. Primarily, this series will be focused on creating content for Calendar 2026, but there is also a fun little card game component I am working on related to it. The characters in today's posts are primarily dedicated to that, which is why their format is in that of an oversized playing card.
All of these characters are the kind of folks you might encounter and hopefully sell to if you were running a booth at a hidden market for dark wizards. (Very much inspired by our experiences running a booth at Dragoncon.)

All of these were initially sketched out on Strathmore bristol in blue colored pencil before being outlined and refined a little in black color pencil, and then drawn over in graphite using a Staedtler 925.
"But Justin, why do the drawings look like they are on toned paper? ARE YOU ACTUALLY AN AI?"
The toned look is simply a sheet of toned paper (From French Paper Co.) that I scanned in and laid over the drawings in photoshop. I love how their lighter toned papers look! But I don't like drawing on them compared to working on the silky smooth surface of 400 series bristol.

I am going to be painting at least one (and hopefully two) of these little watercolors this month and need your help choosing which ones. Look out for a poll dropping shortly after this post goes live and let me know which you'd most like to see!
Part II will be next week, and will feature scenes from the dark wizard's market!
