Today I have a few creatures from our recent poll! The Barnacle Spike (#5) took first prize with 8 votes, and so is the first to get the color treatment. He felt too alone on the spread here, so I ended up finishing 2 others to aid him in his pestilential quests, "The Hermitworm and the Bumbleclops."

To paint these characters over the pencil drawings, I developed an entirely new collection of watercolor-themed brushes. The new "Bumbleclops Sable Brush" is one of my favorites for brushwork, and the Blossoms #47 has been awesome for background textures. I hope you like the set! There are 6 new sets just like it that I will be releasing each month from here on out. Patreon upgraded the attachments section, so I am now able to attach the brush sets directly to these posts. You will find the link to download the "Bumbleclops" set at the bottom.
And because I can't leave well enough alone, I also had to see what these characters looked like when they were turned into the irradiated zombies of this game:

UPDATES: As an update on the game, I have mostly been making progress on art and inventory-related aspects of the game. For the art, we obviously have several new monsters to work with, but I also now have the radiation texture and electrical effect shown above, made into a template that I can easily drop other monsters into. This has made it immensely easier to generate zombified or alternate versions of the characters (essentially doubling the pool of potential monsters we can have in the encounters). This will also help offset the increased time I am spending to actually draw and paint the creatures, now that I have gone back to working over pencil again. Using traditional pencil as a base takes longer, but I just LOVE the results so much more. (Hopefully players of the game will as well!) Anyway, this irradiated effect is really exciting and I can't wait to finally get to battle these little monsters when the game gets into a playable state!
What else? This past week we did a lot of work on the inventory system, sprucing up crates and chests and trying to get things presentable for some gameplay preview vids we hope to be able to start sharing for the game this summer. I finally updated our generic crates to look like something more than just blobs:

Next on our list of things to do: Icons and UI update, New Drones, and a New Hero. And of course, more creatures! The winners from our poll were the Barnacle Spike, The Brontato (#10), the Scorprat (#6) and the Chickenchops, and then #8, which I haven't worked out a name for yet.
Until next time, I leave you with an image of the humble Bumbleclops in flight and a thank you for all your support!
