The "Were-Bear" Monster of the Month for January 2023
Added 2023-01-05 01:39:35 +0000 UTCWe are kicking off 2023 with this cuddly fellow! "The Were-Bear". Definitely not to be confused with a Care Bear, the Were-Bear is less known for friendship and kindness, and more known for mauling and horrible rage. Still, he is fluffy and probably gives good hugs.
With him I also have a new, and very large, process guide. (All these years and I still can't find a standardized layout I am happy with...)
I hope the extra detail and notes in the guide makes up for the size. I like being able to show the progress from the drawing to the color. If you have been keeping up with the Tutorials on The Cycle, I did 3 passes on this character. Pass one established the broad strokes of the lighting, color and then rendering detail. The next 2 repeated passes focused in sharper and sharper as I repeated the steps again. You can see how the detail is enhanced with each pass in the final 3 frames of the guide.
It was fun to get back to earth for a bit and work with some classic textures again! Leather and fur and metal and claws and teeth. It was just a really fun one to work on.
I hope you enjoy this one! We will have another new one next month as we get back to some classic monsters here to kick off 2023!
