Monster of the Month Bag of Treasure

This month I have a LOT of cool stuff to share with you! First, we've got the new monster, "Shaz'ral". I painted this character because I felt like the monster of the month series lacked something genuinely sinister, something that you'd want to fight, rather than maybe adopt as a mildly-destructive pet. I wanted more, "Kill it! Kill it with fire!" 

Also, I just wanted to paint some vipers with a new brush I designed earlier in the month for the Faerie Queene. And speaking of the new brush set, those of you who watched me paint the recent Faerie Queene painting on Twitch will recognize the "Broadstripe" and "Rendersnake" brushes. I also included 2 new pencil brushes that were used to design the dungeoneer character from the character design stream earlier this month.

These brushes were designed in the dead of night earlier this month when I awoke in a fever dream with an absolutely incredible idea for a brush. It was so unthinkably brilliant that I rushed downstairs in the dead of night to design it. I have no idea what steps I took, or what vile ingredients I used to make it, but when I used the brushes the next day I was blown away by them.  I feel like these will be major workhorse brushes for me for the next few years. 

Next, I have a new Process Guide to share with you: 

I went back to an earlier design for this guide, which is hopefully more clear and made better use of all the space. I hope you like it. I am working on the Tutorial for this month now and hope to have that up this weekend. In the tutorial I will be discussing stage 5 of this process guide in greater detail. Look for "The Cycle: Part II" soon!

Lastly, to those asking "Where are the martians, Gerard??" Well.... I am still working on those, but listen! I got really inspired by these brushes this month, and they cried out for something more classical! So I had to delve back into something ancient and did a diabolical villain this month. But we will be back to the stars soon. I've got a really cool one for next month I look forward to sharing with you!
