#LETSDRAWMONSTERS Prompt for July 2022
Added 2022-07-06 12:51:55 +0000 UTC"The Jeweled Snapping Birdle"

PROMPT:
Professor Feazel Van Dorf, often called the most unreliable expert in his field by his detractors, and discoverer of the now debunked "Mothcow", recently made a discovery which, if true, will shake the paleontology world to its geologic foundations. His fossil discovery, which he has named “the birdle,” he believes to have been a large, flying reptile of the late Cretaceous period. The initial fossil deposit upon which the professor has based his claim, consisted only of a beak, a shell, and 2 elbows. This find has been broadly accepted by the paleontology community to have been a pterodactyl skeleton compressed into a prehistoric turtle shell in a tar pit. Professor Van Dorf has flatly rejected the theory, calling it a cover-up. He speculates that the birdle was a flying reptile with a large wingspan, a scaly hide and hardened shell. It had a thick skull with a wide sharp beak, and would have been dangerous predator. As the Cretaceous period drew to a close, he believes the Birdle died out as shifting weather patterns thinned out the supplies of their diet, which he speculates would have consisted of giant moths, prehistoric dragonflies, and fruit found high up in the canopy jungles.
Your job today is to draw a vision of the Birdle to bring Professor Van Dorf's bold discovery to the broader paleontological community and the world. We must tell everyone the real truth!
I will be designing my version live on Twitch until 12:00 Noon EST, after which we will be checking out the community entries! http://twitch.tv/justingerardillustration
