August Roadmap

Welcome to Smaugust! This month we've got a lot of monsters and a lot of Faerie Queene work to share, so let's dive right in!:

Classic Fantasy Illustration: We continue our adventures in Edmund Spenser's The Faerie Queene. You can expect a lot of behind-the-scenes work as we begin work on BOOK TWO. We will be sharing a lot of finished drawing work this month! 

Monster of the Month: This month, the Monsters are changing. We have had a nice, peaceful time here in the summer painting friendly little monsters like "The Disgruntled Pear" and "The Garlic Vinegaroon" (dropping later this month), but now it is time to challenge ourselves again! With the launch of our first Monster of the Month sketchbook in July, we now begin operations on the next phase of the Monster of the Month series. As many of you know, I have been working towards a bigger overall goal with the monster series (...Scorpkin-spice-scented candles anyone?) and it is high time we got ourselves back on track. To this end the next monsters we are tackling will all be "Tier 3" Monsters: bosses, legends, nemesis's, NPC's, and those with a lot more backstory. These will be characters who, like The Unlikely Heroes, will be more complex designs, with intricate weapons, and costumes. Our first is The Librarian, followed by the Dwarven Tinkerer, the Were-guard, and The Bone Golem, and many others. All of which will tie into our larger October Halloween scene, the sequel to last year's Scorpkin Battle! 

LIVESTREAMS:

Twitch streams have been spotty recently. Our Wednesday streams are CURSED it seems. But barring any more calamities or meteor strikes, we will be back on track this month streaming a TON of drawings for the Faerie Queene, Fanstratics and the monster of the month. #Letsdrawmonsters will be back on Wednesday, August 4th. This month and next we are going to keep things very chill with the community challenge.

A Note on Limited Availability of Mentorships: Mentorship spots will be limited this month and next due to all the behind the scenes chaos. If I promised you a a spot and there isn’t space please message me and I will make sure to work you in! Things should open back up again in October.
