This month was AWESOME. We launched a sketchbook and painted 2 monsters, "the Fern Ent" and "the Disgruntled Pear", both of which were based on sketches from our 2020 Sketchbook Collector's Editions. The Pear, apart from being just a joy to paint, was a new record as well!: 3 hours and 50 minutes, from start to finish. It was absolutely the fastest monster yet, by a long shot. Now I have to admit, it is a fairly simple shape, being a pear and all, so perhaps it is an unfair comparison when stacking it up against something like the Fungus Knight. But it is the new record now!
I do believe part of what made it go so fast is the new brush set:

This brush set is 100% texture madness. YOU HAVE TO TRY THESE. They are all "multiply" brushes, which means they will stack each brush stroke transparently (like watercolor). They also have crazy effects that show up the longer you hold the stylus down. I recommend using them on multiply layer to get the best use out of them. (And if you want to use them as normal brushes on normal layers, just switch their mode to normal.)
To see how I used them, check out the process guide below:

This guide shows that 3 out of the 5 painting sections were done on multiply layers! You can do so much with that mode.
I hope you enjoy them. I can't wait to start the next illustration. I am dying to see what they can do in a landscape painting.

Not to be completely forgotten, our Fern Ent was also a ton of fun to work on as well. We painted a lot of this one on stream, and even had a little fun with it:

I hope you enjoy these! I'm looking forward to August where we will be tackling the two monsters that tied for 3rd place in our poll: "The Garlic Vinegaroon" and "The Cyclopean Abomination". Possibly we finish both?? Find out in August if the brushes really do give impart superhuman speed!
