Hazel Vignette

Today I have a hi-res vignette drawing of "Hazel" from the Unlikely Heroes Series. We did this vignette entirely on stream during the past week and the VODs will be up for a few more weeks on Twitch if you missed them!:  https://twitch.tv/justingerardillustration

The image was drawn on Strathmore Bristol using 2H, 2B and 4B pencils at about 8"x10" inches.

And for those of you interested in seeing the development, here is how the image progressed, from thumbnail comp to clean sketch before we started the tight drawing! This is generally how most of my preliminary work looks.

This one was a lot of fun. It has been great to take a break from the bigger environmental mayhem of scenes like the Scorpkin Battle to do a few of these more cozy little scenes. I am really enjoying the series so far!

Next Up for the series: "Weeds" Agnes!  A Gardener who just reeeeally hates weeds...

That’s very helpful! Thank you!

Hi Kate, I haven’t done a super formal post here about it, but I scan my physical artwork on an Epson GT15000 and then color correct in Photoshop. We print with local printers here for our small stuff and then have a Canon IPF wide format printer here at our studio for our larger works and canvas art. I do have a guide in the tutorials section about how I go about preparing a file so that it is ready to print and for the web.

Hi Justin! I’m such a huge fan and we have similar techniques traditionally, I was wondering if you ever discuss how to best scan/print your traditional work in order to sell prints? Or do you only sell originals?
