July Roadmap

Welcome to July! The hottest, most gruesomely humid month in the year here in the swamps of Georgia, a time when I can most likely to be found either drawing monsters in cool, dry, dimly lit places, or deep in a pool of clear water, avoiding direct sunlight at all costs. 

Here's what you can expect this month!

The French Bullfrog!

In honor of Annie's Birthday month, we decided to mash-up her two most favorite creatures in the world! Frogs and French Bulldogs! AND I'M STREAMING THE EVENT RIGHT AFTER I POST THIS! 

To really make this month's monster a challenge, I am going to attempt to do some live drawings of Bucketpuppy as the warm-up.  So tune in for some puppy madness, a high likelihood of livestream fails, and some extra fine monsters!

While we are here, a quick update on the TWITCH channel!:

In July we will continue to livestream on our regularly scheduled Wednesday 10AM streams. Thank you everyone who joined us for our streams in June, especially our charity event! (We raised and donated $325 live on stream!)

A QUICK APOLOGY TO MY NIGHT OWLS: I know I let you down in June! I had hoped to do more night streams during the month, but it all just got away from me. I hope to get a few more informal chill night streams in July! 

Next, The Monster of the Month for July:

 The July monster will be decided in another battle, this time between some of my least favorite creatures of summer! Stay tuned. :) 

Classic Fantasy Illustration: 

Thanks to last month's vote, July's will be Castle's Fall (which has since been renamed to Downfall), and time permitting, The Dragon Dance alongside it. 

I really want to do some of the others from last month's vote soon as well. I find making these landscapes to be so calming and therapeutic, and the world is still on fire, so I am going to keep painting them.  

Also, you can expect a few bonus illustrations and drawings this month. I can't say more at the moment due to NDAs, but there are some really fun illustrations I've gotten to do recently that I will finally be able to share with you.  

Tutorial: This month was supposed to be a tutorial from Drawing Dragons on "Using Reference". However, a key part of my plan for this chapter involves drawing on location at a zoo... which is definitely not going to happen right now as the pandemic is resurgent here in the south. So I am postponing that chapter until later on in the year, and we will instead skip ahead a few chapters and tackle one on drawing techniques. 

Which brings us to MENTORSHIPS:

As I mentioned, we have had an amazing amount of sign-ups last month and many of the sign-ups have stayed on for multiple months, so we are already booked for July. *If I promised you a spot and none are available, please message me and I will make sure to get you on the schedule!
