So Leslie and I got an unexpected series of checks in the mail recently. One was for paying off our mortgage from the house sale. I guess we had some leftover money after all that? Another was a check from our tax preparing company, who actually fucked up our taxes ludicrously bad and had to pay out the difference. I'm not gonna say we were lucky, but uh... well, money is money!
Soooo... With a good bit of unexpected cash to play around with and some things needin' upgradin', I thought it was a good time to invest in the thing we always use to deliver steamin' hot pages to you all. And it gave me a fun little project to toil away at for a bit, too!
After ordering several parts, spending two days brushing up on how to build this damn thing, then ordering several MORE parts so that the previous parts would work correctly... I'm pleased to present our beautiful new baby!
Introducing... the Dreamcast 2!

Which is what I call my new computer. It's been a few GPU generations and 5 or so years since my last computer build, so I thought it was time for a full upgrade! And since I work on this bad boy every day and had the extra money to splurge, we went full top of the line! It's got a Ryzen 7 9800, a 5080, a stupid amount of light-up fans (light blue for extra cooling), and 8 terabytes of storage! And yes, a tiny LCD screen with a looping Dreamcast menu .gif. The case is a Thermaltake "The Tower" 600, which I've been obsessing over for months since I saw it and knew I had to try to build something in it. It was honestly fairly tricky to work with, and it didn't help that my computer building skills were super rusty. Totally fucked up some connector pins and went through hell trying to figure out how to fit everything in its weird ass shape. But once I worked out the kinks (and bought some riser cables to get the GPU to fit), it wasn't so bad at all! In fact, it was so nice...

I built it twice!
Here's Leslie's new computer - Kero! It's built with the exact same specs, only Amy Rose pink to contrast against my Sonic blue! I was able to speedrun this build no problem, knocking it out in only a short two hours! Didn't even need to look up a youtube guide or anything! I was done quick enough for Leslie to draw the page you saw today on it! Leslie's computer honestly needed the upgrade more than mine, so I'm glad I got to use mine as a practice run before building the real important one. Happy to no longer hear those old fans desperately trying to cool shit down working on these smokin' hot pages - this new baby is silent like the void! It was honestly kinda nice building a computer again... though next time, I might just cave and get a prebuilt. My back is killin' me after spending hours hunched over fitting all these parts together. I'm becoming a gaming grandpa... Speakin' of which, still need to see if DOOM runs on this thing...
Thank you all so much for your incredible support! See you on Monday with more Rock Cocks!
