Dev Diary #10 - This is not a tease... this is a behind-the-scenes diary

Hey everyone!

No, this isn't the release post yet - that's still cooking, but I promise not to let it burn 😉this is just some random bits of info that you might find interesting (but feel free to ignore!)

This is a controversial topic but I mentioned on discord I have upgraded older scenes with new CGs and even added a couple of new scenes. If you've played before, it's worth revisiting, though the core narrative remains the same.

Why the upgrades? It's about creating a more cohesive art style and improving the game's visual quality.

Yes, this process has taken some time, but it's been part of the plan for a while. It was the perfect opportunity to improve the entire game's CGs. A crisp 1600x900 resolution, corrected inconsistencies, fixed errors, and improved anatomy. I used to be vocally against using fullscreen but now I fully support it!

I care deeply about this - so much so that I mentioned I would rather see supporters pause pledges than skip these improvements.

As you can see from the example, some scenes did end-up being a lot more work than simple resizes and while the original wasn't terrible, the new version aligns much better with the intended art style. It's not about the original images being terrible, but some of them don't respect the style as faithfully or have other issues. (EDIT: Added a second image which is an example of an image that didn't change as dramatically since it already followed the artstyle rules)

I'm aware of the risks of endless remastering, but I trust you'll see why I felt this was necessary and can appreciate all the new CGs and sexy resolution...

... on top of all the saucy content in the new update 😰

tl;dr - This post is just a behind the scenes post.

The countdown is still on - the bulk of the work is done, including both remastering old CGs and creating new content. Still in the final stages: fixing minor mistakes, editing the script, and tweaking UI.

Some 'minor' fixes can take over an hour each. Multiply that across hundreds of CGs, plus script work, and it adds up quickly.

As a solo developer working part-time, it's a substantial amount to review. I'm working as fast as I can, but I have limited options to speed things up.

Thanks for your patience and support. I can't wait for you to play the new version!

Dude the new ones look way worse?

Forgot to mention, your game is my favorite ntr game.

The style is fine, however the skin color added that unique feeling to it. And maybe a bit of the lighting. Right now seems like a more mainstream design to it, which is less unique which could be improved a lot with a skin color change to the original to make the mainstream look way less like that.

Resetting the image is a huge project, and I hope it can be completed quickly. After all, you have already posted several 0.6 upcoming updates, which is too tempting. If the 0.6 update has been completed, release it first. Resetting old images can be updated in subsequent patches. Just a suggestion, if you can't tolerate the artistic differences in the pictures, we can only choose to wait.

I agree. It def allows for more details and higher res. But I do kinda like it when the skin itself is a bit reddish.

Dan

Yeah not feeling new design. I will need to see more.

Can't wait for the release

I appreciate the feedback and understand some may prefer the older version. Art is subjective! However, let me explain the reasoning behind these changes. Consistency: The new version aligns better with the game's overall art style, especially obvious when compared to images like the Art event scene. Character accuracy: The updated Ayumi more closely resembles her appearance throughout the game. Technical improvements: Refined anatomy, perspective, and shading. For instance, the torso proportions and bed perspective have been adjusted. Color consistency: The new skin tone adheres (more or less) to the color guidelines, matching Ayumi's appearance in other scenes. These updates are about creating more polished visuals throughout the entire game. If the rest of the game followed this specific style then there would be no issue, but this one is the outlier :)

I gotta disagree with you here, the old style looks much better to me. In this given example Ayumi looks very different and I don’t wanna say it but it kinda changes the whole thing for me don’t know why…Also not really sure how to explain it but it’s like in the old version she look just perfect like an angel who we know wasn’t pure all the time and that it had it’s adventures and experiences and isn’t afraid to try it again or go for something new in other words maybe kinky…in this new version not so much (looks inexperienced)…Anyway sorry for this long ass comment that probably could have been written better.

I think the old had its charms but personally the new image is more detailed and definitely an upgrade. I think consistency from the remaster will make for an overall better game

Burcounting

I think old one is better 👀
