The MC being a lazy type isn't that appealing to me and I liked being the childhood friend of the Returner instead of a 'villainess'. The way the MC could see how his childhood friend changed and didn't change from her future experiences was very interesting and won't happen her since Yue is a stranger to him. But oh well this story is good too so can't complain too much

I'm guessing either a rogue part of the church/government was involved in trying to exploit the pair and killed Kanata in the process or Kanata saved Jinyue somehow transferring his life force/ability to her to save her life while on the run. Could also be some other shadowy organization but if the group that caused the tragedy was part of the government/church then it would explain Jinyue's roaring rampage of revenge against the world. I look forward to Yue realizing what had happened and becoming hellbent on eliminating the rogue organization to prevent a similar tragedy from playing out.
