I expect they're about as fooled as khanrow when non-existent books get referenced. obvious bs, he just has knowledge with no clear source. iterants watch him too closely not to know when he fakes stuff.

2026-01-13 15:58:15 +0000 UTCAs others have noted, it seems the game Devs buffed the Iterant quest line for the player as a counterweight to adding a new Space based Crisis faction. There are likely more quest line buffs and balance patches too that Jack hasn't noticed. I bet the Demon Lord staying loyal if you max their loyalty and happiness traits by playing near perfectly is another update buff.

2026-01-13 15:32:42 +0000 UTCI think your right in that the demons and harpies are a offshoot of the original ancient human bloodline that went completely insane in delving into likely forbidden magicks that changed them into what they are. Though i think it was said the Ascendant were a bio-mechanical race created by the ancients that wanted to usurp their creators, and the squids were the remnants of some old cosmic horror that was thought to have been wiped from galactic society by the time of the fall of the ancient empire. They all were helped in conquering that world by the last rival species (the fifth crisis waiting in the wings) to the ancients that wanted to stop them creating the Pantheon that would allow them control over the fundamental aspects of reality.

2026-01-13 13:16:20 +0000 UTCI'm betting this is an avatar / divine engine of the 'Overmind' mentioned by Alya during her first interlude (And which I think is meant to be the 'Wind' that Ilych hears and sees during her interludes as well), whether the Overmind is meant to be the Ancient's NotOmnissiah / Mag'ladroth (Just obviously a lady for the fan service), or the Librarian gease thingy (Halo). If that is the case it would make sense, cause Ilych describes the Wind as looking like the most beautiful woman she has seen. Though, I just wanted to note are the Apcoalypses meant too be rebellious 'Ancient' / Human forces? Cause it was phrased as a gang of four, well ganging up on the Ancients and wacking them. The implication in my mind being that the Galatic communinty basically said / went 'Hey species / Demons that eat souls / Squids that need? to lay their eggs in other sapients to breed / Female Amazons' we're gonna give you as much energy, money, weapons, ect as you need to kill that guy / the Ancients. Plus we're helping you. Plus there are already traitors in their ranks. Plus some of them already want to / plan to kill each other over who rules Like I've gathered that this is the case for the Ascedant, who are meant to be 'Ancient's high off their own supply (Wanting to become Gods, rather than making Gods)...With a strange hate boner for the Undead / Guardians (Maybe because they, being the Ancients generals acted against them first). But Jack's comments have been confusing me a bit. Cause the Iterants apparently went traitor during the war (Hence their guilt complex) but they have no Apocalypse faction left behind to face. (Ai rebellion). Along with apparently the Guardians / The Ancient Military had their own traitor moment (No Crisis faction for these guys either) The Demons are a thing, but its souding increasingly likely that they are just really fucked up 'Ancients' that started to see / justified their blood magic by viewing the non-demons as animals. But they like actually eat the soul for food? (Or are they a another species that got stranded here?) (Tho the fact that they have seduction based infiltraitors kinda makes their relation make sense I suppose...But the setting has super magic and super science) The Amazons / Harpies are according to the Demon Lord Route mean to just be the 'super' rich anicents that wanted thrills? That one, given that they breed wih the other Mortals makes a bit of sense. Like, is the only crisis that isn't from the Ancients just the Squids and maybe the space people? And if that's the case, then I suppose it makes sense that the Conquerors find it hard to genocide the Crisis' after they win. (Leaving them in Reserves)

I am curious how it would work though, maybe it would turn them all into a hive mind that can coordinate better and be hooked up to a power grid to power them beyond their current levels. If it does turn them all into a single organism though that would solve a lot of issues, as it means they would no longer suffer morale loss for casualties, but it also means that a significant portion of his nation's population might be yandere for him or alternatively start having ideas to support him that fall more on the blue/orange morality spectrum.
