Status, future of Patreon and more
Added 2020-12-02 15:17:30 +0000 UTCHello everyone!
Let's do a status update! Today is going to be a wall of text again, so here are the basic things I want to cover;
- The future of Patreon
- Your name in the credits
- Checkup Blues' release window
The future of Patreon and cancelling of Ko-Fi plans
Earlier I talked about changing from a subscription based support system to a system based on individual donations while making my Mega archive public to everyone. Ko-Fi was going to be my new platform for this, but aftor looking a little closer at it, I see that I won't be changing to Ko-fi after all. The reason for this is that Ko-fi doesn't really allow anonymous donors and creators in the same way Patreon allows you to choose a name of your liking, which isn't very attractive for people looking to support nsfw content without revealing their identity. So in light of this, I'll be sticking with Patreon for now. I'm sorry if I caused any confusion!
So what does this mean for Patreon?
I still want to make my stuff much less paywalled as I transition into focusing on animations. My updates will be sporadic, and my content far apart, much like now. At this point Patreon is already pretty close to what I'm talking about, I just need to free up some stuff to the public to remove most paywalls. December will be the last month with my Patreon working the way it does. The changes as of January will be:
- Public Mega archive, link available to everyone.
- Future updates on ongoing projects may or may not be in public posts, depending on content. Mayble I'll make more behind-the-scenes-posts for Patrons.
Um, that's it really...! I want to make Patreon more of a devblog sort of thing, talking about ongoing projects and other behind the scenes stuff for the more diehard fans. Very much like today, but more open to the public. Hopefully I can blur the line between free and payed content, but it remains to be seen. The idea is to give you more freedom to come and go without feeling like you need to stay to know what's going on. You'll start noticing some changes to my Patreon page soon, so take the time to reconsider your pledge for january!
Your name in the credits
Do you want your name attached to Checkup Blues and let everyone know that you supported this project for as long as the internet exists? I want to credit all supporters who wish it in the credits of Checkup Blues! This is of course entirely optional, and you are free to choose what you want to be called. Your name in the credits will be tiered based on how much you pledged in total during the making of this project, aknowledging your support and dedication. Your total support between November 2019 and December 2020 will be tiered as follows:
- Brass tier: $1-10
- Copper tier: $11-20
- Bronze tier: $21-30
- Silver tier: $31-40
- Gold tier: $40++
The amount itself won't be shown, but you'll be grouped under a ribbon of the corresponding tier.
If this sounds interesting to you, send me a pm with your desired name/username! Or you can just comment it on this post if that's easier for you! This opportunity is open to the very last minute before release.
If this works out well, it will become a regular thing for future major animation projects, letting you see your impact on each one!
Checkup Blues release window
As for the project itself, I am now able to narrow down the actual release window! Looking at the progress made and optimizations I've been able to make in the last weeks, I am now confident that Checkup Blues will be released to Patrons in the final week of 2020, that is between the 28th and 31st of December, with the public getting access to it early January! Progress is looking really good, everyone, I'm in high spirits!
That was all for now! I don't know if there will be another update before release, I guess it depends on how things go from here... But if not, then I'll see you on the red carpet!
