I like how she gently holds him and explains to him what's going on. Poor Ali has a traumatizing imagine spot. Hope that this chapter has a happy ending for him and his family.

2025-08-06 01:14:49 +0000 UTCMaybe it's because I grew up with lots of kids who had divorced parents, but it seems weird to me that Ali would catch more flack for his parents not being married than his parents being a lesbian couple. Like if you call your mom's boyfriend "dad" that would be fine, maybe even a good thing since it shows your close enough to your step dad to call him "dad", but two moms will either catch you flack from kids raised homophobic, or parents who are homophobic. (Also now im imagining a parent makes a stink about Adrian and Hilde and Eliza and Henry coming in to defend them and risking their reputation in the process. Maybe that becomes some sort of dramatic bridge burning moment where their shaky relationship with the church crumbles.)
