Reincarnator RB Dragons 2, Recap

Recap for book 1:

Even in a magical world of monsters and legendary creatures, Kevin was still a unique existence. He could remember several of his past, human lives, but in this life he was a goblin, specifically a dream goblin. His adoptive parents were dragons who sensed him when he was all by himself in the wilderness, mysteriously left alone. They had sensed him due to his abnormally large and powerful soul.

Kevin spent twenty years with his parents during which time he devoted his life to study. He aimed to not only reclaim his old martial skills but even improve upon them. During this time, he was very honest with his parents about his past lives and what he could remember. Luckily for him, his parents, both extremely important dragons to the world and to other kinds referred to as the Pax Draconic, did not care about Kevin's past lives. After all, they were both so old that even all of Kevin's lifetimes added together was barely anything for them.

Kevin asked his parents for permission to leave and see the world but they were not convinced that he was ready. However, one day he stumbled upon his father having an audience with some dark elf envoys. After they left, he learned that war was brewing in the mortal world and his parents were forbidden from helping–Largely by their own rules.

On account of Kevin not being a dragon and also having a unique perspective, they sent him on a mission to restore peace to the world and prevent an all-out war from occurring. A large war between the races had not taken place in centuries, and if such a thing were to happen again, it would be catastrophic.

However, his overprotective mother still sent his cousin Lydia to find and accompany him some time after Kevin had left.  As soon as he becomes aware that she is following him, he does his best to prevent her from catching up.

During Kevin's travels, he uses his great martial skill, his limited cleric abilities (channeling the power of the goddess Morrigan, who he has also served as a champion for several lifetimes), and mysterious and powerful Dragon Life Skills in order to kill monsters. During his journey, he is shocked to discover that eating monster flesh from unique or unique monsters can reward him with monster-like powers and abilities.

One of Kevin's dragon life skills that he uses most often is polymorph. He can polymorph into his previous human forms as well as a chipmunk and a fish. Soon after Kevin leaves his parents' cave, he meets a curious fairy named Branch. At first, his relationship with Branch is one of convenience, but he quickly learns that the little fairy is more than he seems.

Kevin spends some time in a human village that turns out to be a hiding place or new home for exiled nobles. He has to leave when he learns that his cousin Lydia is getting close. After that, he plans to head to the mining town of Clearmine.

However, on the way there, he sees a strange group of orcs that appear to be mining in the middle of nowhere. The situation is odd enough that Kevin investigates and discovers that the orcs are evil cultists and had taken a number of humans and goblins prisoners. The prisoners  had gone through unspeakable torture and a harrowing experience. Kevin stops the excavation efforts of the cultists and kills them all. He also escorts the last of the surviving prisoners, all goblins, to Clearmine.

Before he reached Clearmine, Kevin used points that he received through a mysterious system called the Eternal Struggle Reward System that is unique to Champions. The rewards are at least partially luck-based and out of the possible rewards that he is given, he chooses [Elvish Acuity] and [Werewolf Constitution]. Additionally, Morrigan, the goddess he serves as a champion, delivers a gift to him, a strange wooden spoon.

In Clearmine, Kevin takes a test to join the Magi Guild, both so he can get an I.D. and also to begin earning money. His parents gave him a certain amount of wealth when he left, but it will not last forever. In Clearmine, Kevin also learns at least some of the powers of a mysterious gift he received from the Morrigan, The Spoon of Perfect Seasoning. He unlocks the spoon which gives him a permanent skill, [Perfect Seasoning].

Kevin's goal in Clearmine is to establish a professional foundation for himself, make money, and find work and a home for the goblin victims he rescued from the cultists. He figures that he has plenty of time during his journey. His father told the dark elves that an ambassador the dragons were sending would arrive within a year.

For his first Magi Guild mission, Kevin accompanies an adventuring group called the Mountain Fingers to an ancient  ruin that they have a key to. The ruins are guarded by a terrifying creature known as a ruin guardian. The ruin guardian almost wipes out Kevin's team, but he manages to kill it by using a combination of luck, quick thinking, his all of his powers.  His dragon life skills including polymorph, his cleric abilities, and the monster abilities he had picked up during his journey are all used to clever effect.

Kevin eats the meat of the ruin guardian and receives a new ability called [Arcane Surge]. Then the Mountain Fingers explore the ruins and every member of the party makes quite a bit of money from the endeavor.

Back in Clearmine, Kevin is preparing for his second job he accepted through the Magi Guild when he is summoned by the town mayor. At the mayor's mansion, Kevin has an incredibly uncomfortable dinner and feels like he had successfully dodged all the political landmines, when suddenly, the malevolent mayor, who believes that Lydia is a powerful mage who had been tracking Kevin down to apprehend him for some reason, invites her into the room.

Lydia asks Kevin to follow her and they go to a nearby park.

Kevin has a heart-to-heart with his cousin in which they agree to a bet: If Kevin can demonstrate competency in any skill or ability that would give him legitimacy as an ambassador group leader, Lydia would follow him instead of considering him the lesser member of their group.

Since Kevin cannot escape from Lydia, due to her status as a dragon and her powerful magic, he has a plan to learn alchemy during his next Magi Guild assignment. However, when he actually starts the job, he finds out that his new boss, Master Addison, is extremely unfriendly and isn't going to teach him anything.

In equal parts curiosity and frustration, Kevin pays a social call to a mysterious mage living in a tower at the outskirts of the city. The mage turns out to be Alariel, one of the most powerful mages in the world. She is on a sort of vacation to Clearmine and finds Kevin fascinating. After their conversation and due to some unusual circumstances, she allows him to begin practicing alchemy in her tower. Kevin learns very quickly and uses his unique ability, [Perfect Seasoning], to further augment his budding alchemy skills.

The deal with Alariel is, if he can invent a new potion, she will give him a book that might allow him to finally learn magic of his own.

Kevin soaks up knowledge like a sponge until finally, while using a combination of [Perfect Seasoning], his new knowledge, and an item received from his exploration with the Mountain Fingers, he crafts a new potion. This leads to Alariel accepting him as one of her official disciples. After this, honoring her bargain, she also gives him the book that was to be his reward for crafting a new potion.

Luckily, Kevin is able to learn magic from the book, specifically Soul Magic. Kevin begins training in soul magic with the help of his cousin Lydia, who has acknowledged his achievement of becoming both a mage and an alchemist.

However, Lydia's status as a dragon is discovered by Clearmine. This leads to Kevin and Lydia leaving the city to prevent any possible unpleasantness. They leave for Tallridge Hollow, the goblin country, adjacent to the wild lands where Clearmine is located.

Along the way, Kevin is assisted by Lydia in hunting down monsters and adds yet another monster ability to his repertoire.

He was actually having a pleasant time traveling with his cousin when suddenly his is targeted and attacked by a powerful and terrifying demon.  The demon was on a mission to assassinate him in particular.  The would-be assassin  is not from that plane of existence, which incenses Lydia.

Kevin is terrified by the demon, Historia, because he actually recognizes him. In one of Kevin's past lives, he existed as a werewolf and was hunted by demons including Historia.

Lydia is badly injured during her fight with the powerful demon. Kevin transforms into a werewolf using polymorph, and barely succeeds in killing Historia through a combination of skills that build upon each other, synergistically.

Then, after a day of rest, Lydia leaves, heading back to the mountain ranges where her parents and Kevin's parents live. They have no way to communicate with their parents where they currently are, and Lydia must inform the dragons that a demon invaded their dimension to cause havoc.

She and Kevin agree that his mission might somehow be connected with Historia’s incursion, which makes it even more important for them to not ignore it.

After Lydia leaves, she promises that she will catch up with him as soon as possible.  Kevin continues traveling toward Tallridge Hollow.
