Alright, I hear your concerns.
The consensus seems to be that, while the idea of the coffee card credits is nice, it might turn out to be untenable in the long run, what with some 40+ sketches coming together in December, not to mention people who might join up in the future adding to that pile in subsequent months.
I'm not going to deny my enthusiasm might have been a bout of overconfidence on my part, despite having thought about the system for a while and arriving at this conclusion, however I'm also at a loss for actual alternatives.
I suppose I could limit the deal to Tier 3 and make that the additional benefit that's basically fallen away with dropping the PSD files as regular uploads? I'm more than willing to hear suggestions from you guys though.
As much as I want to have some form of "retention bonus" system, I am aware that overburdening runs the risk of collapsing everything, so I suppose it's time ask for ideas from your side and see whether we can implement something that benefits everyone - keep in mind though, lottery systems are forbidden by patreon, so I can't be doing "random winners" type things.

Okay, tossing out a couple of thoughts. Maybe make it a one-time thing? A lot of people would still be eligible for one at the same time then, but you could make it clear that it'll take a while to finish them and so spread them out a little without the looming specter of another round for the same people coming up. Alternatively, I don't know what kind of level of detail we are talking about here, but maybe make them really simple sketches? I know you can do those quite quickly. That way people would still get something but it would be a more realistic amount of work for you.

Limiting it to higher tiers could be an option, until that tier becomes too crowded aswell and it would overwhelm. I'm not sure there is a good alternative that would also be realistic in executing. People love your art too damn much!

2025-02-17 17:29:28 +0000 UTCHmmm... yeah, this is a tough one. Off the top of my head, limiting it to higher tiers is all I can think of. And I'm saying this knowing full well that it'll likely exclude me from benefiting. Giving everyone a "random starting point" so to speak might work to spread things out a bit, but I can see that ending up feeling very unfair. Plus, wasn't there something about raffles not being allowed on patreon? This might be skirting a bit close to that. And of course, if you are confident that you can doing, don't let us dissuade you :) Personally, I'd rather do without this than see you overwhelmed though. In any case, I'll think about this. Maybe ask around my friends for ideas too.

2025-02-17 16:20:17 +0000 UTCI think the coffee card idea is workable if you first give each person a random number of 'coffee stamps' first. That way some get a sketch next month, and some in 7 months time. That at least would spread things out a bit more. Though there might be some maths involved for each tier you give the coffee cards to. If that's too much like a lottery, maybe give people a 'time served' reward based on how long they've been members up until the start of the card scheme. Use that to spread them out.
